Amélie

Thoughts?

I really like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]! (Sorry I couldn’t find the accent :joy:) It’s definitely better than variations like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and it gives me smart, bad@ss, strong vibes.

So pretty, but I’ve heard it get mispronounced so many times by [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers and that would bug me, personally.

wait… just want to make sure I’m not mispronouncing it. I pronounce it (AH-meh-lee)
please correct me if I’m wrong.

I adore Amélie! It’s one of my favorite names! I love [name_u]Ami[/name_u] as a nick name too!

I feel this. There’s a mom on youtube with an Amélie, but she pronounces it uh-MELL-ee and it makes me so mad :joy:

It’s my daughter’s name so I obviously adore it. The variation in people’s perceptions of the pronunciation can be frustrating though. Although really, we don’t have too much of an issue with it. Here is how you pronounce it. We aren’t [name_u]French[/name_u] so we don’t say it with a [name_u]French[/name_u] accent as such but we do say it in the same way if you know what I mean, or as much as possible with an Australian accent.

One of my good friends name is [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] and I love her name, she is originally from [name_f]France[/name_f]. We all say it like [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-mel-lee (Australian). Not sure if that’s the french pronunciation but she has never corrected us.
