What are your thoughts on [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would get mistaken for [name_f]Emily[/name_f] a lot?
When I read it as Uh-meh-lea (Amelìe) sounds awesome. I prefer [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] instead [name_f]Emily[/name_f]
I love it! There’s something about it that’s so sweet, pretty and elegant. The movie is a great association as well.
I know an [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. She’s fifteen, half-[name_u]French[/name_u] and half-Irish. She loves her name and pronounces it ah-meh-LEE.
I like it! Pronunciation is very similar to [name_f]Emily[/name_f], but it’s fairly intuitive for me.
Amelie has recently become a personal favorite - I naturally seem to pronounce it AH-meh-lee and love it. While close to [name_f]Emily[/name_f], I think it might be more likely mistaken by some for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
I don’t know if it would get mixed up a lot (I know a couple of Amelies and they’re fine), names of that ilk are certainly a thing, so it wouldn’t feel unique.
(e.g. in my school year, there are two Amelies, four Amelias, five Emmas, three Emilys, and two Emilias)
I like it. I think it might be mistaken more for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but it’s easy enough to correct
It might be mistaken for [name_f]Emily[/name_f] but it shouldn’t be a problem. I think [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is a underused gem!
I love [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]. Im using it as a middle name to honor my grandma [name_f]Ama[/name_f]. Its so soft and just gorgeous- I especially love it in a [name_u]French[/name_u] accent which I know i can’t expect anyone in the US to have! So I do think in the US as a first name it will be mixed up with [name_f]Emily[/name_f] unfortunately. They are very different pronounciations but I do think people dont realize.
Amelie is gorgeous! I think [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is familiar enough that it won’t get too confused
It’s beautiful and romantic! [name_f]My[/name_f] pronunciation is different from [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (ah-meh-LEE), so I can’t see an issue.
This is a really beautiful name and the character from the movie Amelie is so endearing.
I love [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]!! I pronounce it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-meh-lee so I don’t think it is too similar to [name_f]Emily[/name_f]. the Am-uh-lee might be mistaken more.
I would pronounce it Am-e-lee. But I think it’s very different to [name_f]Emily[/name_f] for me even though they sound similar, [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is much more elegant and makes me think of the [name_u]French[/name_u] film.
I really love the name [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]! Many people say [name_f]Emily[/name_f] though, it’s very close! Very sweet with a bit of sass. Kind of a femme-fatal name as well!
xx
I love [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]! It’s so soft but with a bit of sass to it!
I think it’s very pretty (though I don’t think my pronunciation is quite right).
