I’m interested in either [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] or [name_m]Americo[/name_m] for a boy. Four sylables is a lot, and I know it would inevitlbe be shortened, so I’m looking for American sounding nicknames either.
There is an [name_m]Americo[/name_m] in my family and he goes by [name_m]Rick[/name_m], but I’m not wild about [name_m]Rick[/name_m].
Also, Americo would be pronounced ae-mer-EE-koh, not ah-ME-ree-ko. It’s not pronounced like America with an O.
I prefer [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] as a full name. If you’re looking for a name that lends to more nicknames then I would go with [name_m]Americo[/name_m]. As PP said it could be shortened to [name_m]Rico[/name_m]… also it could be shortened to Meric (on here there’s a [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], same pronunciation) which I think sounds cool.
This is my whole issue. I prefer [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] as well, but I cannot think of any nicknames.
But I do think Meric would work well. It could be even further shorted to [name_m]Merc[/name_m] (I had a friend growing up named Mercadante, and he went by [name_m]Merc[/name_m]).
Yeah [name_m]Merc[/name_m] works! As for [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] just out of curiosity would you plan on pronouncing it like [name_u]America[/name_u] with go at the end or similar to how your would pronounce [name_m]Americo[/name_m]?
The only nicknames I could think of for [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] are Merig , [name_m]Rig[/name_m], or [name_m]Rigs[/name_m]. Mer or [name_m]Merc[/name_m] could work too I’m sure.
[name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] is what most people are used to and how they will want to spell it. As a person with a name that no one spells right, I would advocate going for that spelling.
As for NN
Ames
[name_f]Merry[/name_f]
[name_m]Rigs[/name_m]
[name_m]Rigo[/name_m]
[name_m]Merc[/name_m]
and potentially using/combining with middle name choice. My brother, for example, is [name_m]Mattias[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], and he prefers [name_m]Tiger[/name_m] to [name_m]Matt[/name_m].
My vote goes to [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m] and my favourite nicknames would be [name_u]Ari[/name_u] & [name_m]Aro[/name_m] (or [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]). You could also use [name_m]Argo[/name_m], Mic, [name_m]Amos[/name_m] or [name_u]Rio[/name_u], to give a further few yet-to-be-mentioned nickname ideas.
I prefer [name_m]Amerigo[/name_m]. Does the nickname have to be directly from his name? [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of people have nicknames that aren’t connected to their name at all.
The reason for the name is to pay homage to [name_u]America[/name_u], as immigrants from [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. It’s supposed to sound like [name_u]America[/name_u].
