Amina?

I was wondering about this name today, as I have recently met a little girl of Turkish origin with this name and there is a contestant on Masterchef Australia called this as well. And well…I really like it! And funnily enough my husband does as well.

I love its meaning; honesty/faithful as it sort of ties into the meaning of my name as well which means peace.

I don’t consider this a problem, but would it be an issue if we named a future possible daughter this even though it is an arabic name? My husband is French and I am an Australian with Scottish/English roots.

And if we did call her this, she would probably have the occasional nickname of [name]Minnie[/name] which I love.

Again I don’t think this is really a problem as the city where I live has such diversity of culture (embassy city)… But it is something to ponder, and as I don’t know much about the name apart from what it says on behindthename.

Also do you think it goes well with [name]Susannah[/name], my daughter’s name?

Thanks!

I think it is a nice name and sounds good with [name]Susannah[/name].

I think [name]Amina[/name] is beautiful and I think ti goes well with [name]Susannah[/name].

I absolutely love [name]Amina[/name]! I don’t really have the Turkish association so it just seems like a great international name. I think it’d be easily pronounced in many languages and [name]Susannah[/name] and [name]Amina[/name] sound very cute together. [name]Minnie[/name] is really cute, too, although I have to say I adore [name]Mina[/name].

I like it! Another option to consider with the same pronunciation but different spelling and origin, is [name]Amena[/name].

[name]One[/name] of my friends who is also Welsh is named [name]Amena[/name], which is a Celtic name and means “honest, utterly pure”. I love it, it’s so pretty. We usually call her [name]Mina[/name], but [name]Ama[/name] or [name]Minnie[/name] is cute too.

I think [name]Susannah[/name] and [name]Amina[/name]/[name]Amena[/name] would be beautiful. Though with such a classic name like [name]Susannah[/name] which definitely has a very “British” feel to it for me, I would choose the Celtic [name]Amena[/name] over the Arabic [name]Amina[/name] personally. Other would be lovely though! I just see [name]Amina[/name] as more of a sister to [name]Leila[/name], [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Milena[/name].

Good luck!
