I think that it will make a comeback eventually! There’s Little Women, as well as the fact that it’s a three-letter name, which seems to be a bit of a trend right now. I don’t see it coming back anytime in the immediate future, but maybe in 7+ years.
Amy Louisa and Winifred Amy are my favourites from your list.
Edit: Adding that my girlfriend, who’s turning 18 in a couple of months, is called Amy, and she’s never had any problems with her name being perceived as too dated for her! But she does live in an area where a lot of people have dated names, so maybe that’s why.
Both my husband and I love [name_f]Amy[/name_f] and considered it for both of our daughters - [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] was the combo we threw around. But yeah ultimately kinda shied away because we worried it would seem like a mom name to her. But I think it’s got a classic, simple feel that sets it apart from other names that were ultra-popular in the 70s and 80s. It reminds me of [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women.
Absolutely! [name_f]Amy[/name_f] will definitely come back, and in fact I don’t see it dropping off the list entirely before that happens. Similar to [name_f]Mary[/name_f], I think it will always quietly rank, but will see a fresh popularity burst in a few decades’ time. It’s currently only just outside the Top 200 in the US and [name_f]England[/name_f] & [name_m]Wales[/name_m], and still in the Top 100 in [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] and [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]. A quiet classic.
Absolutely! I love [name_f]Amy[/name_f], and I don’t think it “belongs” to one generation. It feels very simple and classic, which is perfect “comeback” conditions
I hope [name_f]Amy[/name_f] makes a comeback! I agree with what others have said that it’s one of those quiet classics. It feels slightly like a mom name right now but I can see it making more of a return within the coming decades, especially thanks to the [name_f]Greta[/name_f] Gerwig [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women adaptation with [name_u]Florence[/name_u] Pugh as [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_u]March[/name_u].
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] are beautiful!
There are still quite a lot of Amys born today. Its just outside 200 in the US. [name_u]Will[/name_u] it trend upward? I don’t know… maybe… it has a lot going for it!
As someone named [name_f]Amy[/name_f], I was excited by this title
I like [name_f]Amy[/name_f]! There were never too many Amy’s my age growing up. It’s easy to spell and easy to pronounce. It doesn’t feel super dated or super trendy. I think it’s a great name.
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is my favorite from your list!
I do think [name_f]Amy[/name_f] could come back! While it feels slightly dated now, it’s still sweet and might stay quietly in use until coming back in earnest a little while down the road. I think it can suit people of any age, and I’m definitely a fan!
