Amy or Aimee?

Which do you prefer and why?

[name_f]Aimee[/name_f] is spunky and fun (and french :joy:) . [name_f]Amy[/name_f] is pretty and more classic seeming. I like both! Probably I like [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] a little more for myself but if I were choosing a baby’s name Id be tempted to use [name_f]Amy[/name_f].

[name_f]Amy[/name_f].

I like the simplicity and sweetness of it. This is also probably the most common spelling in the states, which I myself would choose for the ease of the wearer.

Aimee, just looks much better to me

I love Amy’s simplicity!

aimee is nice but seems very… excessive. amy is much simpler and reminds me of little women which is a definite plus!

[name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] seems like it would get misspelled and mispronounced often

[name_f]Aimee[/name_f] just because I have a bad association with an [name_f]Amy[/name_f]

[name_f]Amy[/name_f] would be easier to spell but I think I read somewhere that [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] is the original french spelling of it, so I’d go with [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] if I wanted to be “correct” though it may have trouble with people spelling it & [name_f]Amy[/name_f] if I wanted it to be easy for people to spell.

PS. I said correct because it’s the original, either way is technically correct.

I prefer the simple yet elegant look of [name_f]Amy[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Aimée[/name_f] over any other spelling possible. It might be bias as that was my twin brothers birth name (now Dylan) but its such a lovely name. It’s [name_u]French[/name_u] and sounds so classic (we were [name_f]Aimée[/name_f] and Jasmine) and the name always gets compliments. Sure, there’s not as many [name_f]Aimée[/name_f] keyring as there are with [name_f]Amy[/name_f] but there’s too many Amy’s now and not enough Aimées

[name_f]Amy[/name_f]: classic and stunning

This is tough as I really like both but I think [name_f]Amy[/name_f] slightly wins out for the literary connection

[name_f]Amy[/name_f]

[name_f]Aimee[/name_f]! I’m not sure why though, I’ve always really adored both spellings of the name and was gutted when I couldn’t use it anymore with both my ex-partner and my current S/O  [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] just seems to be where I lean usually - I think because I had a friend growing up who spelled her name like this?

amy thanks to amy march !!!

Asked my friend who is an [name_f]Amy[/name_f]
and she said she prefers the spelling [name_f]Amiee[/name_f] as it looks more pleasing

[name_f]Amy[/name_f]!

As an [name_f]Amy[/name_f] I definitely prefer this spelling. When I’ve spelled it for people I’ve gotten a lot of “oh the normal spelling?” as a response. [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] is fun and gives a different spin. But I like having the classic spelling since it’s easier for other people to understand.

If pronounced AY-mee, I prefer the classic [name_f]Amy[/name_f] spelling in [name_f]English[/name_f]. [name_f]Aimée[/name_f] is a beautiful [name_u]French[/name_u] name but it has a different pronunciation and I struggle to get my head around [name_f]Aimee[/name_f] pronounced like the [name_f]English[/name_f] form [name_f]Amy[/name_f], it just seems a bit too literal for me.
