Too Russian princess? Anyone have any other associations? Is it 4 syllables or 5?
4: ana-STAY-juh
Definitely not too princess-y, I think itās beautiful.
Lovely name with great namesake!
Anastasiaās pretty popular, so I donāt think itās too Russian princess. I personally pronounce it as 4 syllables, but Iāve heard about 100 different pronunciations for it - aw-nuh-staw-zee-uh is technically ācorrect.ā [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] ā[name_f]Ana[/name_f]ā from 50 Shades is the only other association I can think of.
I pronounce it aw-nah-stay-zuh, so 4 syllables. I donāt think itās too Russian princess at all. I like it well enough to add to my long list, so I would be happy to see someone give it to their child.
I like the ana-stay-juh pronunciation best, but im pretty sure the 5 syllable pronunciation is ācorrectā, im not too sure though, itās not a common name in my country!
Its not too Russian princess to me, but I also associate it with a Russian gymnast, [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] Grishina!
Beautiful i love it :))
I donāt think itās too Russian princess! Itās so elegant and feminine; itās somewhere on my list too.
Iād say 4 syllables. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name, very classic
5 syllables here! ah-nah-STAY-see-uh. (The Russians say ah-nah-stah-SEE-ah, so 5 syllables there too).
I think itās one of the few five-syllable names that feel genuinely wearable, even in full. But there are also plenty of nice nickname options.
Itās not my personal style, but I like it and think itās definitely usable!
I say it with five syllables. Itās very elegant, not too princessy. I love nicknames [name_f]Nastya[/name_f] and [name_f]Ana[/name_f].
Iād say 4 syllables. Itās a name thatās pretty and full of flair!
I switch between 4 and 5 syllables. I think itās absolutely usable!
I like both the 4 and 5 syllable pronunciation, depending on my mood/whether Iām speaking Russian or [name_f]English[/name_f]. I donāt think itās too Russian princess, though.
Iām sorry, but I just donāt like it. I get four syllables, but my Russian friend has a way cooler pronunciation of five.
I think this is a beautiful name. Not too princess.
Personally, Iād say it as An-a-sta-zia, but An-a-sta-si-a is fine. It does sound more Russian princess to me though.
You can also find cute nicknames like [name_f]Ana[/name_f], Stassi, Nast, [name_f]Sia[/name_f].
I only hear four syllables. A-na-stay-juh
Whilst the princess was my first thought, I donāt think thatās a bad thing at all!
I personally pronounce it like ana-stah-see-ah, so five syllables, but most people I know say ana-stay-juh.
Thank you all! Iām excited to add it to my list, but Iāll have to think more about if pronunciation would be an issue.
Very pretty! I would automatically say ann-uh-STAY-zha, but I would easily be able to correct to ah-nuh-stah-see-uh.
