we’ve posted on here before when we were TTC, but now that we’re pregnant and expecting fraternal TWINS (still in shock!), we’ve been rethinking our choices.
If they’re B/G, we’re leaning towards [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. Both middles are family names (we have a lot of Kays and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]'s, so we figured [name_f]Kate[/name_f] covered all the bases). First names are a nod to our U.K./Irish roots and both have a nature reference (“gravelly homestead” and one of the islands/rivers in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f])
If they’re B/B, we like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Killian[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Again [name_m]Paul[/name_m] is a family name and [name_m]Killian[/name_m] for the same reasons as above.
If they’re G/G, however, we’re stumped on a second girl’s name. We know the middle would likely be [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], but we haven’t agreed on a first name.
Here are some names that are my style but vetoed by my hubby: [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
He likes [name_f]Lana[/name_f]/[name_f]Alana[/name_f], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
Girls:
[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]
[name_f]Aibhilin[/name_f]
[name_f]Aithne[/name_f] (a bit close to [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but I still love this one)
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ciara[/name_f]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]/[name_f]Aine[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
A good start is analyzing the names you and hubbie have picked out and love mutually already. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a gorgeous name. It’s the short-and-sweet style as well. [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Killian[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] I love as well. All three have first names that are climbing the charts and seeing a lot more use-- while their middles are familiar classics. [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] seem to be to strike me as 'familiar classic’as well… but they are also climbing the charts! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Alana[/name_f] and [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] are all also Irish and Scottish names.
So from what we’ve gathered so far, we can assume that you both are fans of names that are a lot more popular today, but are familiar and/or classics. You also like Irish/Scottish names. Hopefully this helps you if you wish to find some names on your own too.
Here are my suggestions:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] (my favourite out of all my suggestions-- [name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sound so perfect to me!)
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]/[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_u]Shannon[/name_u]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
In keeping with your theme, here are a few ideas:
[name_f]Elaine[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Deirdre[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
Sibeal [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
Fidelma [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Sinead[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
Noleen [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
Great choices so far! I love [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] doesn’t work so well though. I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
Here’s an idea! You like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and your husband likes [name_f]Jane[/name_f]… why not [name_u]Josie[/name_u]? Also, I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] would make a lovely sibset!
I love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] don’t work so well. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]?
