Andrew vs. Isaac - thoughts, opinions, other Biblical alternatives?

So I’m not pregnant yet, just looking to the next pregnancy which hopefully will come soon. My kiddos are [name]Paul[/name], [name]Clare[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Katharine[/name] (nn [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Katie[/name]), and [name]James[/name]. [name]Andrew[/name] has been leading the list but there was an [name]Isaac[/name] at my kids karate test this weekend and it seemed like a nice name. I’d probably use their full names but dh would probably shorten them to [name]Drew[/name] and [name]Ike[/name]. My boys middle names are all New Testament names as well so it seems that Biblical names are my favorite for boys.

Between the two I like [name]Andrew[/name] more but [name]Isaac[/name] is a nice biblical name too. The New testament names that come to mind are [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Luke[/name], and [name]Peter[/name].

[name]Isaac[/name] is actually an Old Testament name but I much prefer it to [name]Andrew[/name]. I’ve never been very enthusiastic about the name [name]Andrew[/name] and I don’t know why because it’s not a bad name. It just seems kind of bland next to [name]Isaac[/name]. Some of my favourite New Testament names are: [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Philip[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Simon[/name] (I believe this name is in both Testaments) and [name]Silas[/name].

I agree with @mischa. I’ve never really seen the appeal behind [name]Andrew[/name] but [name]Isaac[/name] is lovely! I love [name]Isaac[/name] with your other children, as well.

I love the pps suggestions of [name]Peter[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Silas[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Simon[/name], and [name]Matthew[/name]. I think [name]Jude[/name], [name]Cornelius[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Matthias[/name], [name]Zachariah[/name] (or even [name]Zachary[/name]), [name]Barnabus[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], and [name]Bartholomew[/name] would be great options, as well.

I love [name]Andrew[/name]! And I love the nn [name]Drew[/name]. [name]Andrew[/name] has a rich history - I believe he is the patron saint of [name]Scotland[/name].

I’m definitely in favour of [name]Isaac[/name] over [name]Andrew[/name] and think the NN [name]Ike[/name] is cute. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I realized this morning that [name]Ike[/name] isn’t an option b/c we share a last name with [name]Mike[/name] [name]Tyson[/name]. DH still likes [name]Isaac[/name] though.

I like [name]Isaac[/name], also. Have you thought of [name]Luke[/name] or [name]Levi[/name]?

If [name]Ike[/name] is not usable, why not use the nn [name]Zac[/name]/[name]Zak[/name]?
