Andrew vs. just Drew

Another frontrunner is Andrew/Drew. I LOVE Andrew, but it’s quite close to the names of two family members. One has given us their blessing to use the name, and for the other to differentiate, we’re going to use Drew as a nickname.

S/O thinks just Drew is fine, which surprises me, since typically he prefers a fuller name with a nickname, but he said Andrew nn Drew is a good option as well.

Which do you prefer, Andrew nn Drew or just Drew?

I would go straight to [name_u]Drew[/name_u]. I love it! And I think it is especially relevant being that you would be calling him [name_u]Drew[/name_u] and I always think it’s nice to have the same name on your birth certificate and initials that you are known as.

I think both [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and just [name_u]Drew[/name_u] feel very you. I’d personally go with [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] “Drew” that way you get to use both!

Both are great! I prefer just [name_u]Drew[/name_u] for me but for you I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] “Drew” makes sense — you love the full name, it has the right nostalgic vibes, and gives him a few more options down the line.

I prefer [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] ‘Drew’

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though both work wonderfully for you I just think with [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] the name feels more versatile, timeless and a great compromise between his preference of British schoolboy and
yours of southern gentleman through the nickname [name_u]Drew[/name_u].

I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] “Drew” works so well for you! I would always advise anyone who likes the full name as equally as the nickname to go with the full name. That way your child has more choices later on in life! Speaking from experience, I am so glad I have a fuller name that I can choose to go by depending on my mood :relieved:
