Is a name like [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] wearable, or do you think it feels like it is trying too hard to be unique? Would it be usable as a first name, or better suited to a middle name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it is exclusively a girl’s name or can be used for boys as well?
I think it’s perfectly wearable. Especially with nns [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Andie[/name_f] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. If [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] and [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] are wearable then why not [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]?
To me it’s all girl. I like it.
I definitely think it’s a girl name, not unisex at all, imho. As far as usability goes…yeah, I suppose it’s wearable. A fun nickname might help it feel less intimidating? Though I think keeping it in the middle spot with a shorter or more classic first name would perhaps be the best option.
Do you think it pairs with [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]?
Like as a sibling set? Sure.
I love [name_f]Andi[/name_f] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as nickname ideas.
I’d say it was a girls name and useable! It has plenty of familiar nicknames
I love [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]!! Its such a beautiful, strong name. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite nicknames are [name_f]Andie[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f], but there are so many choices!
I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I can absolutely picture it used on a boy. I think that’d be so cool! I like more feminine names on boys though, so that’s probably why!
For your second question, [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] & [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] make a perfect set of sisters ([name_f]Andie[/name_f] + [name_f]Calla[/name_f] are so sweet!!)
For me, it’s a girls name! I think it is usable, but I wouldn’t be brave enough to use it as a first name. If you are, please choose [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]! It’s one of my guilty pleasures. [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] are perfect for sisters!
Very girly. It seems like more of a gp name to me personally.
I think it’s wearable. It has a similar ring to Alexandria to me. [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] was actually on my list of names with [name_u]Andrea[/name_u] or [name_u]Andy[/name_u] as nicknames I think it’s fine as a first or middle name.
I know you like girl names on boys so if wanting to use the name for a boy, he can go by [name_u]Andy[/name_u] if you’re worried about him being teased. Or you can put it as his middle name.
I think [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]’s wearable, especially with so many great nn options! It comes across as a very adult, sensible name to me, and I think it’s an awesome choice. I would definitely says it’s just a girl’s name.
@jonquils thank you for telling me that. I find it so much more encouraging and reassuring when you know someone else has used what some people would consider a more unusual name and that they wear it well.
I think [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]’s pretty wearable. There are a ton of nicknames you can use ([name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_f]Ro[/name_f]) if you feel like it sticks out. Personally, it sounds very normal to me, because the main character in [name_u]Jodi[/name_u] Picoult’s My [name_f]Sister[/name_f]’s Keeper was named [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] (she went by [name_f]Anna[/name_f].)
