Dh and I stumbled upon this gem in our search for a second son’s name to go with our shirt, one-syllable Irish last name. We’d like to use DH’s family name [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] as a middle. What do you think? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Angus[/name_m] paired with [name_m]Loudon[/name_m]? Other options for middle include [name_m]Albert[/name_m] (family name) or [name_m]Earl[/name_m]. Other first name options include [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and [name_u]Keegan[/name_u].
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m]! Not so much love for your other options.
I really love [name_m]Angus[/name_m]! I only know one (he’s British with red hair) and he’s a brilliantly positive association
[name_m]Angus[/name_m] is definitely my favourite of the first name options (but I think if you were to have more boys later on, [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] and [name_u]Keegan[/name_u] would both make great brother names for [name_m]Angus[/name_m]). I think [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] is incredibly handsome!
Best of luck!
[name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m], adore it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] be prepared for [name_u]Gus[/name_u] as a nickname.
I know a couple of pre-school [name_m]Angus[/name_m]’ as it’s quite popular among Aussies of Scottish heritage. I think it’s lovely and much my favourite of your list.
I also wanted to express my love for [name_m]Angus[/name_m]. A strong and handsome name. Like it with your chosen middle name too.
I agree with the beef thing (it must be regional). I guess it depends on where you are at, but if you are in the US, I think most people will think of the meat.
I really like [name_m]Angus[/name_m]! I like it much more than your other options.
I’m so in love with [name_m]Angus[/name_m], it’s so handsome. [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] is great!!
I’ve grown fond of [name_m]Angus[/name_m]. It look a while though. The name reminds me so much of [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] (can you almost spell the heather? :)) that I decided it can transcend the beef association. I quite like [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] and if [name_m]Angus[/name_m] flows and looks well with your one-syllable surname, I would encourage you to choose it. [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] is a fave of mine too.
[name_m]Angus[/name_m] is truly beautiful ( plus I’ve known two Anguses, one Irish and one [name_m]Scott[/name_m], and they were lovely lads, so only positive associations for me!) ; it sounds great with [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] too and I agree with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] : it sounds so Scottish that it transcends the meat association !
I love [name_m]Angus[/name_m] (though slightly prefer the pronunciation of [name_m]Aonghus[/name_m]) and [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] sounds great! I think [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is a cute nn
Also, we have [name_u]Aberdeen[/name_u] [name_m]Angus[/name_m] beef in this country but I definitely don’t think it is a strong association
Being from the US, I also just think of beef. If not for that association, it’s not a bad name.
I’m from the US, but [name_m]Angus[/name_m] has grown on me in recent years. I like the [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Louden[/name_m] combo a lot.
I think most Americans will recognize it as a name as well as a type of beef - it’s not that far out there in that way. [name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Loudon[/name_m] sounds great.
FWIW, I love the name [name_m]Innes[/name_m], which is an anglicized form of [name_m]Angus[/name_m]. It’s handsome without baggage.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Angus[/name_m]! [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] would be an adorable sibling set.
I really like [name_m]Angus[/name_m], and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] as a nickname. The beef association (I like in Kansas, so beef is kind of a big deal) would give me pause, but if my husband said he it was the name he loved, I would definitely consider it.
