I have a baby named [name]Leonie[/name] who gets called [name]Kitty[/name]. We somehow got there from [name]Leo[/name]=lion. It isn’t something we go around introducing her as, but she is called [name]Kitty[/name] quite a bit around the house.
I love [name]Bernadette[/name], which means bear. Is [name]Bear[/name] a bad nn for a girl? I think you could get to [name]Bunny[/name] from [name]Bernadette[/name] as well. [name]Bunny[/name] & [name]Kitty[/name] do sound sweeter together!
Any other animal name ideas or names that easily nickname into animal names like [name]Bunny[/name] or [name]Birdie[/name]?
I think [name]Bear[/name] might be to masculine, [name]Bunny[/name] would be cute, doesn’t really relate though to [name]Bernadette[/name]…
[name]Fawn[/name] - a name I love, is established as a name and is an animal, other variations are [name]Fawna[/name] and [name]Faunia[/name]
Chickadee - is a gp of mine
Otherwise, most animal names don’t really appeal to me, but I know [name]Wren[/name], [name]Lark[/name], [name]Dove[/name] are all pretty popular on here.
Names that can have animal nicknames:
[name]Melissa[/name] - means bee, so [name]Bee[/name] could be nickname
[name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Kathryn[/name] - [name]Kitty[/name], [name]Cat[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] - [name]Bee[/name]
What about [name]Teddy[/name] instead of [name]Bear[/name]? I think it is softer than [name]Bear[/name] for a girl and the letters T-E-D are in [name]Bernadette[/name]. [name]Bunny[/name] would make a cute nickname for her too, as would [name]Birdie[/name].
The only one I can think of at the moment is
[name]Amanda[/name] or [name]Amandine[/name]: Panda (rhyming [name]Manda[/name]/Panda)
I think [name]Bridget[/name] and [name]Birdie[/name] are really cute! OH! Or [name]Brigitta[/name] nn [name]Birdie[/name] [name]Leonie[/name] is pretty [name]German[/name] in my mind, and [name]Brigitta[/name] would be a perfect fit. Plus, [name]Birdie[/name] and [name]Kitty[/name] are kind of better suited for each other than [name]Kitty[/name] and [name]Bear[/name]. [name]Bear[/name] isn’t a bad nickname, but [name]Kitty[/name] is tiny and cute, and [name]Bear[/name] is just ‘RAWRRRRR!’ so I’m not sure how I feel about those two together.
[name]Paloma[/name], [name]Colombe[/name], Coloma-> [name]Dove[/name]
[name]Orsola[/name], [name]Ursula[/name]-> This could go for “[name]Bear[/name]”, too
Pastora -> It might just be me who likes Pastora, but if you’re cool with stretching the nickname, you could maybe go with Lamb as a nickname. Pastora means ‘shepherdess’
[name]Theodora[/name], [name]Sidonie[/name], [name]Meadow[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name]- [name]Doe[/name] (I think [name]Dorothy[/name] nn [name]Doe[/name] would be great with [name]Leonie[/name]! And if you like [name]Bernadette[/name], I think [name]Dorothy[/name] is of the same style so I’m hoping you like this one)
[name]Frances[/name] -> [name]Fern[/name] (not an animal, but it’s sweet and naturey)
[name]Lark[/name] is one of my favorites though I’m not sure how well it goes with [name]Kitty[/name]. Though I adore the nn [name]Kit[/name] and [name]Lark[/name] would go great with that. I agree with the others that [name]Fawn[/name] is also pretty.
I also like [name]Henny[/name], from [name]Henley[/name] or [name]Henrietta[/name] or [name]Athena[/name] or [name]Gretchen[/name] or Hendel
Or Lamb from [name]Camilla[/name]
Or Filly from [name]Phillipa[/name]/[name]Philomena[/name]
Also I think you could get to [name]Bunny[/name] from [name]Beatrix[/name] because of [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] who wrote [name]Peter[/name] Rabbit
I love [name]Sidonie[/name]=[name]Doe[/name]…but [name]Sidonie[/name] & [name]Leonie[/name] might be too matchy?
I have been trying to get my husband into [name]Fern[/name] for forever so maybe [name]Fawn[/name] could be a good compromise plus a way to get another cutesy animal nickname!
I wouldn’t call a daughter [name]Bear[/name], but I do like the subtle animal connection that [name]Leonie[/name] and [name]Bernadette[/name] share. I would use [name]Birdie[/name] for [name]Bernadette[/name].
