Anna or Lydia?

Hello,

My husband and I are expecting our first child in [name_f]May[/name_f], a girl. We have narrowed our list down to [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I would like her middle name to be [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], after my dear grandmother. The last name is a three-syllable Italian name that sounds a bit like ‘Chianti’. Which name do you prefer and why?

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]

Thanks in advance for your help.

With [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f], however, generally, I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] as [name_f]Anna[/name_f] had become a bit bland to me.

My vote goes to [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] over [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. But, they both have a nice flow with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].

This is very difficult for me. I love both names, but thee are different reasons that pull me onwards them. Usually I’d say [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] straight away because it’s been, and still is, so much less used and popular than [name_f]Anna[/name_f] overall, so it’s unlikely I’d get sick of hearing it. But I absolutely adore [name_f]Anna[/name_f] because of an amazing character association I have with it, who’s really made me love the name now. I also prefer the ‘grace’ meaning, honours my mum, so that’s why personally I’d go with [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but I do really like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] as well. I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] has a slightly better flow too.

I like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] more, but think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] sounds better with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] and I actually think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] has the better flow.

I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] to [name_f]Anna[/name_f], however with [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and with your last name, I prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Chianti sounds much better than [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] Chianti. But I’d go with whichever name you love best! They both work well ([name_f]Anna[/name_f] works better than [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]), but chose the name you love!

I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a lovely combination.

I slightly prefer [name_f]Anna[/name_f] to [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] but both names are lovely, classic choices.

Definitely [name_f]Anna[/name_f] for me.

I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] sounds better with your surname.

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] Chianti runs together and becomes [name_f]Annika[/name_f] Anti

Both are lovely, but I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] flows better with middle and last name, so all three names are not 3 syllables with a prominent ‘ee’ syllable. Good luck!

I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] has a better flow.

Both names are gorgeous but my favourite is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is a gorgeous name, it’s a cross-cultural choice and works within many different languages also she has the lovely meaning ‘grace’ - [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] sounds wholesome and spunky teamed with [name_f]Anna[/name_f] it’s a beautiful name.

: )

Both names are equally as beautiful and the sound very good together, but personally I think [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] has the better flow.

I definitely prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] over [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I think both names flow with the middle name [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is far too common and plain of a name now.

This is a hard choice for me, as I completely adore both names. I think both are beautiful and classic but [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is a bit more distinctive and so I would choose that one.

I prefer [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] (although [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is beautiful too). I think it’s the double d that is swaying me. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] Chianti has a better flow imo than [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Chianti (I think the double n is having the opposite effect for me here).
