DH and I had planned to name our daughter [name_f]Anna[/name_f], but lately we also have been considering [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. We are stumped and would love your thoughts. I love how classic and strong [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is. I love how unique and beautiful [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is, but I worry it is too frilly and too lengthy with our last name (three syllables). We have discussed using [name_f]Anna[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], but I think I would rather decide between the two.
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is incredibly pretty. I think it sounds very strong rather than frilly (but there’s nothing wrong with frilly either).
I believe [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f] will be a natural nickname meaning that even if you decide to call her [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], the occasional [name_f]Anna[/name_f] will definitely appear.
I don’t think [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] LastName is too long either if it still sounds “right”.
I love both names! I really like the idea of using [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and calling her [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. That way, she has a beautiful full first name to use if [name_f]Anna[/name_f] doesn’t suit her anymore when she’s older.
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is more classic and allround while [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is more edgy. It’s up to you to decide:) [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] which name that would have suited you the best. As of right now, I’d probably chosen [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] for me. I can never spell the other one and am not 100% sure how it should be pronounced. It looks over complicated. I love the simple elegance of [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. You can use a more flowery middle if you want to jazz it up.
I prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Ana[/name_f], [name_f]Annora[/name_f] etc, but not [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and I agree that it naturally lends itself to the nickname [name_f]Anna[/name_f] so you can have the best of both worlds.
I have an [name_f]Anna[/name_f], so naturally that’d be my choice. We actually were considering [name_f]Annalise[/name_f]. We decided against it because we kept on saying [name_f]Anna[/name_f] when people asked what we were going to name her. She’s simply [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Not [name_f]Annie[/name_f], or [name_f]Annalise[/name_f]. We do sometimes call her [name_f]Nan[/name_f] and [name_f]Nanna[/name_f], but that is because she loves bananas. Lol. Her full name is [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], we get countless compliments.
