Annabel?

I read [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s book too [name]Elsie[/name]. I think I’m defintitely either hipster or yupster (kinda a cross between the two) in my naming preferences. So, while I get an overall negative feeling about the term ‘hipster’ (I mean there is a blog post called De-hipsterize that baby name), I don’t care if people call me a hipster.

I think the book described hipster names as names that are sorta trendy in an urban kinda way (not trendy in a spelling or overly used way-- just trendy like a ‘cutting edge’ city vs country type way). I am definitely a city person in that way, so I guess I can see it. I gravitate to non-mainstream things.

Yupsters are people who wanted to be hipsters but didn’t quite have it in them! (these are theresa definitions- sorry [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]- I am probably totally misreading your book, but that’s how I saw it) Yupsters are in the suburbs and get their style from the city folks!

  • I can’t wait to hear [name]Brent[/name]'s comments to [name]Lemon[/name]'s list either! And yes, we do love him on NB! He’s frustrating in a lovable kinda way

omg lemon, I’m laughing so hard!

ok, [name]Brent[/name] said, “Geez, she knows me better than you do” LOL!

Yes, he agreed with most of your comments on ones he doesn’t like. But he actually liked [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name]! I actually got an “it’s ok” from him on that one. wow!

He LOVES [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name]! He said he likes the short, concise middle names. He liked [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] too, and obviously he loved [name]Adeline[/name] [name]Ava[/name].

He did think the other ones were “grandma” names, of course. Some of his comments (and please don’t hold these against him/me; he is a dude):
“[name]Harriette[/name]? No fricking way.”
“[name]Rory[/name]? Does she know this is a girl?”
“[name]Calliope[/name]? Take off the ‘ope’ and I like it”

omg…I guess it is funny, if it weren’t so sad sometimes!

Oh and I love [name]Sabrina[/name] too; I asked him about that one (from a pp…I think irisrose) and his retort was, “The teenage witch? No.” Ugh!

Ok…I wanted you to read that in case you have to get to bed or something, but I’m gonna do another post really quick about hipster/yupster names. I hope [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] don’t mind!

[name]Elsie[/name],

I don’t have to go to bed! I’m in college - I’m lucky if I go to bed by midnight. Especially when I waste my time on here with you all, which I always do. But it’s a fun distraction, and I like you guys, so it really isn’t a waste of my time! Um, okay…

Oh, my finger? I don’t know - it’s just swollen and sore. And it hurts to write, which is bad. [name]Doctor[/name] says I need to soak it for a week, says it might be the start of an infection but it’s mild. So, that’s the plan!

[name]Ah[/name], [name]Brent[/name]. My favorite NB husband. Actually, I hope he doesn’t think I’m a total psycho. But, anyway, I’m glad he loves [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name]! I do, too. And he likes [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name]? I’m literally shocked. I did not see that one coming. Um, I guarantee that I did not spell [name]Harriet[/name] with an “ette” ending, did I? And did I say it wasn’t an ideal sibling set? I believe so. I probably deserve it on that one. Excuse me, [name]Brent[/name], but [name]Rory[/name] is [name]Pam[/name]'s daughter’s name. Yes, I know you’re having a girl! ([name]Don[/name]'t tell [name]Pam[/name], but if I ever get a male Irish Setter, I’m going to name him [name]Rory[/name].) [name]Calliope[/name] without the “ope” isn’t near as fun, though, [name]Brent[/name]! [name]Don[/name]'t you see? And, you could call her [name]Callie[/name]. Goofball. But, again, I saw that one coming! And, [name]Scarlett[/name] is not a grandma name. I do not understand his rejection of said name, and [name]Scarlett[/name] Johansson is not a reason not to like it! But, I tend to agree with him on [name]Sabrina[/name], probably because I grew up watching “[name]Sabrina[/name] the Teenage Witch.” Why was he watching that? Ha!

[name]Lemon[/name]

PS [name]Do[/name] tell me about hipster and yupster names. I think I know about yupster names, and I honestly like a lot of them, and hipster names, but I want to be informed. And, you guys won’t believe this, but the only [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] book I have is “Beyond [name]Jennifer[/name] and [name]Jason[/name].” I bought it once out of the blue when I was at Johns Hopkins. I don’t know why they had it. But, now I can’t bring myself to buy another book…

Ok, here is what they say about Hipsters:

“The hipster parent is a relatively new being , arriving with the wave of young rock- and film-star moms and pops out to prove that city life, tattoos, and skinny hips can co-exist with strollers and diapers.” LOL! Anyway, “Hipster names are not new or fashionable in any conventional sense, but more likely to be quirky and cool in an understated way. A non-hipster may have a difficult time identifying a hipster name as one that has any kind of style value, while another hipster will immediately recognize it as hip.” Ohh I like this part too: “Hipsters have a horror of conformity - once a former hipster name like [name]Ava[/name], for instance, gets too popular, they abandon it.” (So, maybe I am a hipster? A sub-urban hipster lol!)

Here are some example hipster names:
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] (see? you do know what you’re talking about!)
oooh, [name]Tallulah[/name] is on here too!
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] (this may soon have to be abandoned by hipsters, at least in MN)
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Tillie[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Paloma[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]

(And actually, I don’t think being a hipster or hipster names are bad at all…I think this is actually my favorite name list in the book!)

Ok, here’s what they say about Yupsters:
“A yupster is more likely to be suburban, while a hipster is urban…a yupster is more frankly middle-class, more bourgeois, more mainstream. A yupster may be a former hipster who’s crossed over to a more conventional adult life: bought a house…given up the dream of becoming a rock star…and taken a job in marketing. Yupster names are more traditional than hipster names, too: perhaps further up the popularity ladder…[name]Olive[/name] is hipster, [name]Olivia[/name] yupster. [name]Hugo[/name] hipster, [name]Henry[/name] yupster…The less ordinary yupster names - [name]Alice[/name], [name]Eliza[/name], and [name]Emmett[/name], for instance - might be used by bona fide hipsters, while hipster names that get popular may become fit for yupster consumption.” LOL!
Yupster examples:
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Madeleine[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]

Ok, on an unrelated note, my favorite part in the book is when they are talking about giving all your kids names with the same initial:
“The problem comes in when you name your first two sons [name]Edward[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name]…and then find yourself with Boy #5 and choices limited to [name]Earl[/name] and [name]Edgar[/name]. But then again, if you have Boy #5, you probably have bigger problems than what you’re going to name him.” LMAO…actually, I think I’m going to make that my “signature” on here lol!!

Thanks [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name], I hope you don’t care I did that!!

Oh one more thing…about [name]Pam[/name]'s kids, I think (that’s the one with [name]Rory[/name], right?)…their nicknames are “[name]Ro[/name], [name]Joe[/name], and O.” So maybe [name]Maddie[/name] and [name]Gaby[/name] wouldn’t be that bad… just kidding!

yes, i was shocked about [name]Gwyneth[/name], too…

[name]Elsie[/name],

Okay, I think I’m a “yipster,” then. I’m not quite a hipster, I guess, but I’m not totally about conformity and the like, so I guess I’m not a yupster. I can see all of those names that you wrote off the hipster list being hipster except for [name]Paloma[/name]. That just feels too out there to even be a hipster name! Maybe it’s just my personal issue with [name]Paloma[/name], though. See, I think [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Antonia[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Flora[/name], and [name]Violet[/name] are great, but I love names like [name]Anna[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Claire[/name], and [name]Miranda[/name]. Where did they put [name]Alice[/name]? I want to call that a hipster name, but it seems like it might go into that classification of yupster names that are used by bona fide hipsters, too. Oh, and I love [name]Henry[/name]!

I think if I gave into my hipster side, I’d have a daughter called [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Wren[/name]…

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]How[/name] do you know that? And, [name]Pam[/name], why does [name]Rory[/name] need a nickname? That’s cute, though. I like it. What’s O’s name?

PS I realized I have “Beyond [name]Jennifer[/name] and [name]Jason[/name], [name]Madison[/name] and [name]Montana[/name],” not the original itself.

[name]Lemon[/name]

hey lemon!
i can’t remember if it’s in “cool names” or “beyond,” but they were talking about planning out names for siblings and stuff but how sometimes it’s impossible to foresee everything, because the kids’ names are [name]Rory[/name], [name]Joseph[/name] (I think), and [name]Owen[/name], and how the nicknames turned out to be “[name]Ro[/name], [name]Joe[/name], and O.” It just made me laugh!

OMG and I totally agree with your yipster, lol! I think I have at least a semi-horror of conformity, but I am definitely socially classified as a yupster. So funny!!

ohhhh ok one more thing I keep forgetting to ask you guys, and I really hope this isn’t a deal-breaking caveat on [name]Annabel[/name]…my mom, whom we see very often, has a puppy named [name]Bella[/name]. Should the nn [name]Belle[/name] for [name]Annabel[/name] be off-limits?!

Hmmm,

I don’t think so personally. It’s a little bit of a nuisance but I don’t think it should stop you using [name]Belle[/name] if you like it.

I’ve asked this before because I love the name [name]Penelope[/name] (so does my partner) but his mum’s dog (who also we see often) is called [name]Penny[/name]. No one seemed to think it would be a problem but then I did say I’d probably nn a [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Nell[/name]. Having said that it’s inevitable I think that some people will call her [name]Penny[/name] but it still wouldn’t stop me!

I’ve been very entertained reading the back and forth posts that went on overnight haha. It’s funny for me because I’m in the UK so I’m not online when the rest of you are most active and then in the morning things have normally developed so much further and I have to catch up!

Can I just say - also very surprised that [name]Brent[/name] liked [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name]! No remarks about [name]Gwyneth[/name] Paltrow? I think that’s be a beautiful choice if you decide you don’t want to get into too much of a theme. I can’t remember if you said he liked [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Gwen[/name] or not but I love it! I don’t think [name]Gwen[/name] is too short, it’s definitely used as a full name here in [name]Wales[/name]. However I would be wary of having two 1 syllable G middle names because you may feel tied to that and it’s much more restrictive than “Hollywood Glamour”.

I also liked [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] so glad [name]Brent[/name] liked it!

And if his response to [name]Calliope[/name] was “take off the ope and I’d like it” would he maybe like [name]Calla[/name] or [name]Callista[/name]?

If he doesn’t like [name]Sabrina[/name] because of the teenage which, what about [name]Sabina[/name]? Oh and my ex’s sister is called [name]Sabrina[/name] and goes by [name]Brenna[/name] so maybe he’ll like that her nn could be close to [name]Brent[/name]? Or maybe not!

Oh and you can tell [name]Brent[/name] he’s not alone on the [name]Violet[/name] from Saved by the [name]Bell[/name] thing! I remember her too! She was Screech’s band geek girlfriend who wore severe braces and snorted a lot when she laughed so not the best image! I’d forgotten her name was [name]Violet[/name] though. I’ve never liked [name]Violet[/name] and never been able to put my finger on why, maybe subconsciously that’s what I think of all [name]Violet[/name]'s now?! Lol.

lol [name]Laura[/name], I’m glad you enjoyed our posts! It was fun to have that much back and forth in such a short time! Too bad you’re not on here at the same time, too. :frowning:

I will have to consider [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Gwen[/name]…although I absolutely agree with you on the one-syllable G middle name thing: that would be an extremely hard thing to keep up, should we decide to have any more kids.

I’m glad the puppy name/kid name isn’t too much of a turn-off. The only thing that bothers me now is [name]Brent[/name] said he’d call her [name]Anna[/name], and not [name]Belle[/name]. And I don’t want her to be [name]Anna[/name]! Although I didn’t want [name]Gabriella[/name] to be [name]Gaby[/name], either. :stuck_out_tongue: (I had originally wanted her to be [name]Gigi[/name] for her initials, GG, but that didn’t happen, obviously.) Anyway, maybe I can talk to him about it. Hopefully he’ll listen to reason. Oh, wait…I forgot who I’m talking about!

Oh, re: [name]Calla[/name]/[name]Callista[/name]…I’ve asked him about [name]Callista[/name] before (his response, of course: “Flockhart?”) But I’m not really a fan anyway, and I really don’t like [name]Callie[/name]…it reminds me of a cat name! But he does like [name]Calla[/name], and I do, too, but I don’t think it goes very well with our last name.

I had to laugh about the [name]Violet[/name] thing…yes, that’s definitely the one! She had huge ugly glasses too! So, maybe I’ll let him have this one.

Oh my gosh I just got done reading all 7 pages! Phew! So much to take in that I don’t even know how to respond!

[name]Lemon[/name], how have you not read [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name]? Are you for real? I pre-ordered mine on Amazon so I’d have it first thing when it came out and not have to wait to go to the bookstore! However, that was after my [name]SIL[/name] stole JJ, MM AND Cool Names. :frowning:

About hipsters and yupsters. My impression is that yupsters are hipsters that have grown up and grown out of the hipster phase. Like, the people on 9 by Design, they got older but stayed hipsters. Most people grow out of that phase, though. I mean I guess I used to be sort of a hipster. And i think my name choices still reflect that. But now I don’t dress all cool like I used to or go to rock shows and independent movies and cool coffee shops. I live in the suburbs, occasionally go see a blockbuster and make my coffee at home. I’m not a yupster though, I’m not rich enough (or rich at all, haha)… I don’t really know what I’m classified as. Anyway, I think the only reason to worry about picking hipster names is if you are ARE a hipster, in which case picking a name on the hipster list would make you already pass”, so you’d have to pick something newer and hipper which isn’t already known. So basically my point is that I think you have much bigger issues to worry about than picking a hipster name!

Did I ever mention to you that my nieces are [name]Madison[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name], almost always called Madi and [name]Abby[/name]? Well, they are and honestly? There are no issues with their nicknames being to close. It’s actually kind of cute, and I’m fairly sure that no one has ever said anything negative to their parents about it. Seriously, the only people who worry about that stuff is us crazy berries! That said, for me personally [name]Gaby[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name] would be too close, but again, I think that’s the least of your worries!

If you’re still looking for opinions, I love [name]Annabel[/name]! I prefer it tenfold to [name]Madeleine[/name], but I’m just not a big [name]Madeleine[/name] fan, popular or not. It’s not that I don’t like it, it just doesn’t have that something special [name]Annabel[/name] does, at least to me. I absolutely see [name]Annabel[/name] fitting every age. It’s a sweet name, yes, but I find it strong as well. I think you’ve moved past that worry though, right?

What does [name]Brent[/name] not like about [name]Belle[/name]? It really seems like something he’d like, it’s feminine and pretty and popular. I would push it, if I were you. And she can easily go by [name]Annabel[/name], ya know? It’s very easy to say, it really doesn’t need a nickname.

And I wouldn’t worry too much about the dog. [name]How[/name] often to do you see it? [name]How[/name] old is it? Meh… If I’m being honest, it would bother me. But i feel like you have SO many obstacles in your naming struggle that you kind of have to let go of outside factors like that.

Sorry to jump in at the end here!

[name]Lyndsay[/name], I don’t know! I guess I just love my old one so much that I never bothered to get a new one. So, I guess I’m not getting the full [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] experience, but I have the website! I’ll probably wait until a new one - is there going to be a new one? - comes out and buy that.

Hm. Dog thing. Well, it might confuse the dog, but it won’t likely confuse the baby. Or anyone else. It’s a bit odd, but [name]Baby[/name] [name]Belle[/name] will be around a lot longer than Doggy [name]Bella[/name]. Sorry, I know that’s depressing. And, it’s your mom’s dog, not your dog…

Wait, you both like [name]Calla[/name]? [name]Calla[/name] Kutzner doesn’t bother me at all. I love it. I swear to God, [name]Elsie[/name], every name you and [name]Brent[/name] throw out here has something in common with [name]Gabriella[/name]! [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Calla[/name]? Two -lla names? This is serious craziness, I tell you. But, at least you know what you like! I was thinking maybe [name]Calla[/name] could be a nickname for [name]Caroline[/name] today. Is that insane, Berries?

[name]Lemon[/name]

PS You could name her [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Annabel[/name]…

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Calla[/name] totally would work for [name]Caroline[/name]… Or what about [name]Carolina[/name]? I think it’s even better for that. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Carolina[/name] together (I pronounce it car-oh-leen-ah, but the other way is lovely as well). [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Carolina[/name] nn [name]Gaby[/name] and [name]Callie[/name] is pretty perfect, I think. I might have to go so far as to say that’s my favorite yet. But you think names like [name]Carolina[/name] sound made up, right? Bummer.

[name]Hi[/name]! See, lemon, I told you! It honestly seems like every name the two of us like has some similarity to [name]Gabriella[/name]. I dunno, I like [name]Calla[/name], but it’s just ok. I do think it could be a nn for [name]Caroline[/name] though!

So lyndsay, do you think [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] are too close? Or do you think they’re ok? And no, I don’t think you mentioned your nieces are [name]Abby[/name] and Madi. For some reason, I don’t feel like that sounds as bad as [name]Gaby[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name] lol! Probably just because I’m more judgmental on myself. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, I just saw your new post, too…no, I don’t think [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Carolina[/name] are made up at all, just not a fan. :frowning: They just sound too hillbilly to me!! I’m sorry. I can just picture some lady with three teeth yelling out her trailer door, “Care-ohh-laaan! Now you get your butt in here for dinner!” Maybe I’m retarded.

Oh and the puppy thing…yes, she’s just a puppy, so she’s just a few months old. We do see my mom quite often though, usually at least once a week. I’m more concerned about her being confused over [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Anna[/name], though, if [name]Brent[/name] calls her that. :stuck_out_tongue: I think I’m just gonna put the smack down and say, Look, you put me through hell and back trying to find a stupid name that’s still not even perfect, so you’ll call her [name]Belle[/name], dammit, and you’ll like it! Only half kidding on that one…

Ohh my gosh ok one more thing…so my friend today was calling the [name]Annabel[/name] spelling “tryndee” and “unconventional” and all that…I told her about the [name]Edgar[/name] [name]Allen[/name] [name]Poe[/name] and the poem “[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Lee[/name]” and told her I didn’t think [name]Poe[/name] was being trendy, but now I’m nervous about that. I think [name]Annabel[/name] is really a legitimate spelling, right?? Ugghhh, God…will the conflicts never end?!

Anyway, I think [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ava[/name] is probably the front runner right now. Like I said, I’ll keep making [name]Brent[/name] look over the name books, though.

For one thing, [name]Annabel[/name] is not a trendy name. It is a classic. And, no, [name]Annabel[/name] is not a tryndeigh spelling - it is perfectly legitimate! [name]Poe[/name] was not being strange when he used it, and neither are you. [name]Both[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Annabelle[/name] are legitimate, accepted spellings. I just like [name]Annabel[/name]'s streamlined look, and I think it works better with the [name]AnnabEL[/name]-[name]GabriELLa[/name] issue…

[name]Caroline[/name] as a hillbilly name? [name]Ah[/name], [name]Elsie[/name], you never cease to amaze me. But, now that I’m picturing you’re “quote,” I can see it, too. It’s hilarious. But, I’d never consider [name]Caroline[/name] to be a hillbilly name. It’s far too…yuppy…for that. Ha!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Wow, your friend is so off base with the [name]Annabel[/name] spelling! I honestly can’t imagine that many people would think that about it, but who knows. If I were using the name, I would spell it [name]Annabelle[/name], but if I were you I would spell it [name]Annabel[/name]. I love them equally and I feel like they’re equally legitimate spellings. Oh, and I wasn’t clear. I love [name]Annabel[/name] with [name]Gabriella[/name]. I don’t think they’re too close at all and I honestly wouldn’t hesitate about that at all. I really think most people wouldn’t even see the issue. And even [name]Gabriella[/name] and [name]Annabelle[/name] isn’t that bad, and I still think most people wouldn’t notice it. Still, I’d stick with [name]Annabel[/name] just for your own peace of mind!

You made me laugh out loud about [name]Caroline[/name]! I would never in a million years have thought of it that way! It’s the furthest thing from a hillbilly name to my mind!

LOL I’m glad I made you guys laugh with the [name]Caroline[/name] thing…although I think I should have spelled it like, “Git yer butt in here fer dinner!”

Anyway, I forgot I wanted to comment on the [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] combo…we actually met a 3 year old last weekend named [name]Audrey[/name] and it felt so weird to call her [name]Audrey[/name]! I guess I feel like [name]Audrey[/name] is such a grown-up, sophisticated name, and it seems so weird to call a little girl that. I suppose [name]Audie[/name] (sp?) would be a really cute nn…at [name]Gaby[/name]'s old daycare, there was an adorable little girl there named [name]Auden[/name] and they called her [name]Audie[/name] and I really liked it! And now that [name]Gaby[/name] doesn’t go there anymore, it might be fair game LOL! Oh well…I like [name]Auden[/name] better than [name]Audrey[/name], but [name]Auden[/name] doesn’t really match with [name]Gabriella[/name], I feel. [name]Audie[/name] and [name]Gaby[/name] sounds super adorable together, though. Hmmm…actually, I might have to think about the [name]Audrey[/name] thing. Although [name]Brent[/name] and I both know an [name]Aubrey[/name] whom we’re not very fond of, so I’ll have to see what he says!

Oh and lyndsay, I’m so glad you like [name]Annabel[/name] with [name]Gabriella[/name], and that you don’t think they’re too similar. It really is reassuring to hear that, especially from berries!!

Oh and sorry one more thing, I told [name]Brent[/name] I really didn’t like [name]Anna[/name] and could he please please call her [name]Belle[/name] if we do this, and he didn’t exactly agree, but said, “[name]How[/name] about I just call her by her name, [name]Annabel[/name]?” So…we’ll see.

[name]Elsie[/name],

I went to school with an [name]Audrey[/name], and I have no trouble seeing the name on a little girl or a grown woman. I think that’s probably why I like the name so much, honestly - it ages well, yet it has pizazz. It could just be because I’ve experienced a young [name]Audrey[/name] for much of my life, though…

Oh, [name]Auden[/name]? That’s so cute! And, [name]Gaby[/name] and [name]Audie[/name] are pretty darn adorable together. I think those are spunky nicknames, even though I don’t personally think [name]Audrey[/name] needs one. I bet little kids who try to say her name will end up saying “[name]Audie[/name],” anyway, so it is a natural nickname choice!

Think about it. [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] is so pretty. If you wanted to change it up, [name]Belle[/name] is always there.

[name]Lemon[/name]

That’s kinda cute! He’s right-- doesn’t need a nickname.

As soon as you posted that, I realized that my husband doesn’t call our daughters their nn’s often. He almost always uses their full names (first-- not middle hehe we’re not that formal!) Especially for [name]Scarlett[/name]. he never calls her [name]Carly[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name] gets [name]Penny[/name] from him sometimes though, but it is a long name  I’m the nn freak… the twinkies already each have a bunch of nn’s.
[name]Eloise[/name] - [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Ella[/name], Lowie, Weezy (I know that’s not really pretty, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s come to my mind!), Lo, and just plain “E”
[name]Fiona[/name] - [name]Fina[/name], [name]Fia[/name], [name]Fae[/name], [name]Ona[/name], Fi, [name]Fifi[/name], and “F”

Oh, and I agree with you that [name]Audrey[/name] is a pretty grown-up name for a little kid. [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] is amazing though!! I’m seriously in love w/ that combo.

[name]Annabelle[/name] – I don’t care for this spelling as it seems too frilly (and I like frilly!)
[name]Annabel[/name] - simplier and seems to fit the image I have of an [name]Annabel[/name] better. I like the poem connection. The only thing I can think of that might make it feel trendy and I’m really going out on a limb here is the actor [name]Dave[/name] Annable… maybe people feel like [name]Annabel[/name] spelling is close to Annable and that makes it feel trendy? Or maybe this is just me? I know I find myself thinking of that name whenever I see [name]Annabel[/name] written. (again, I know that is out there.) The other thing that comes to mind is the [name]Annabel[/name] spelling is less common/popular so maybe people feel it’s not the “best” spelling.
