I have a new name obsession: [name]Annabel[/name].
I only like it spelled that way because of the [name]Poe[/name] poem, [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Lee[/name]. We would probably use the nicknames [name]Annie[/name] or Bells. I know [name]Bell[/name]/[name]Bella[/name] names are really popular and trendy right now, but I am in love with the idea of calling a little girl Bells. I love it so much that I don’t care about the trendy-ness.
So, my question… do you think [name]Annabel[/name] (nn [name]Annie[/name]/Bells) goes with my other kids’ names? (see my signature for their names)
I like it a lot. It’s a little more traditional than your other kids’ names but I think it still goes. [name]Annabel[/name], like [name]Lucy[/name], is pretty flexible in terms of style.
It’s funny because I love [name]Annabel[/name] but hate [name]Annabelle[/name]… the latter spelling is just too frilly for me.
I love [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Lee[/name] too.
Personally, I will never suggest [name]Annabel[/name] as a sister to [name]Boston[/name] and [name]Piper[/name]. but I think it’s still okay. You love it, then use it.
Personally, I feel [name]Annabel[/name] is getting a bit overly popular… but that may just be my circle. I know SO MANY of varying ages with various spellings.
I think that it fits with [name]Piper[/name] as far as popularity level, but less so with [name]Boston[/name].
The issue of ‘fit,’ though, is more prominent with [name]Boston[/name] and [name]Piper[/name] being a bit more spunky/tomboyish where [name]Annabel[/name] is decidedly frilly.
That said, I’ve never been one to argue in favor of ‘sibsets.’ They are individuals and likely won’t ever think about how their names fit together (or don’t). I only argue in favor of fairness between sibling names, and/or making sure no one name ‘sticks out’ enough to make one child feel like an outsider. You know, like [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Catherine[/name] and Mariko.
[name]Annabel[/name] still has a lovely sound to it, though.
Not to be negative, but I REALLY don’t like [name]Annabel[/name]. It’s too girly (if your daughter wanted to be a tomboy) and it doesn’t age well, imo. I also agree with yellow that it doesn’t really go with [name]Boston[/name] and [name]Piper[/name]. Much too girly and cutesy.
Mine are [name]Boston[/name] & [name]Annabelle[/name] and my pups name is [name]Piper[/name]! Sounds like we have the same great taste!
Her nickname is [name]Annie[/name] and I think Bells is super cute!
I love love love the name!!! It does not matter at all if it “goes with” the other names. Children should be individuals. These are not school uniforms. I say use it!!! [name]LOVE[/name]!
[name]Love[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] (also [name]Amabel[/name]). I disagree with a previous poster that it’s too girly, but that’s just my opinion. I think an [name]Annabel[/name] could just as likely try out for softball as she could try out for cheerleading which is what I like about it. And as she grows older she has the choice of being a [name]Bella[/name]/Bells, or an [name]Annie[/name]/[name]Anna[/name], so I think it’s very versatile and would age pretty well. It’s not what I would choose with [name]Boston[/name] and [name]Piper[/name] but I [name]LOVE[/name] the poem and I really like the name, so if you do too I say use it.
