[name]Hi[/name] Berries!
I met a little girl named [name]Annaleigh[/name] today and it caught my eye. I’m thinking it might be a great way to honor my sister and grandmother. What are your thoughts on the name? [name]Do[/name] you prefer it as one smooshed name, [name]Annaleigh[/name], or as a seperate FN/MN, [name]Anna[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]?
I’ve only heard it pronounced [name]AH[/name]-na-lee or [name]ANN[/name]-a-lee, so [name]Anna[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] would be [name]ANN[/name]-a-[name]LEE[/name].
I don’t care for it. [name]Anna[/name] [name]Lee[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] is fine. If you were to smush it, I would do [name]Annalee[/name]. [name]Annaleigh[/name] looks trendly. Also keep it mind it’s a bit like “anal-y”
[name]Annelie[/name] may be a Swedish ethnic option:)
Thanks for the responses! I’m not super in love with it, just caught my eye. I get that the [name]Leigh[/name] ending is a trendy thing like [name]Charleigh[/name], [name]Baileigh[/name],Rileigh, etc. I like it not for the trend but to honor my sister, [name]Leigh[/name] [name]Ann[/name]. Maybe so it won’t come across trendy/k8tv, [name]Anna[/name] [name]Leigh[/name] is a better choice.
the “anal-y” did cross my mind, guess I’m not the only one! Appreciate the honest responses : )
I have a daughter, [name]Annaleigh[/name]. I know people on here always say it looks trendy and sounds like Anal-y, but we’ve never encountered either of those issues. Maybe because we live in the South and most folks say it with a southern accent? Also, we are constantly asked if it’s an old family name…and it is to an extent…[name]Anna[/name] and [name]Leigh[/name] are both family names on my side.
@southernmomma I’m from the South too and [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Leigh[/name] are both family names on my side. I’m happy to see you’ve never encountered the anal-y problem. Maybe it is the Southern accent : ) Thank you for the feedback!
I’m also from the south. I like it, know a girl my age (30ish) named [name]Annalee[/name]. I thought about using it, as the names are also in my family, but I was a bit put off by the anal-y comments I read on another nameberry thread. I had never thought of it, but now it bothers me in the back of my mind. I might come back around to it tho, and I do still love it and find it very sweet. I don’t mind the smooshie either.
I think it’s lovely and didn’t hear the anal -y at all. Recently met an [name]Annaleah[/name] which usually isn’t my style but think its gorgeous.
Also just met an [name]Anna[/name] [name]Grace[/name] which I might have to put on my girl list.
