I like the [name_m]German[/name_m] original [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] by far.
Definitely prefer [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. It’s beautiful.
Another vote for [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]!
Thanks everyone! [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is my favourite spelling too, I just wanted to make sure people didn’t feel like it was too hard to spell or pronounce (I would say it the anglicised way an-uh-lease).
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is my second favourite as I understand that’s the typical spelling in Denmark etc.
I adore [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]…but I would pronounce it Ahn-uh-leese instead of [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-uh-leese. The [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] spelling is the more traditional, and so I think the “Ahn” pronunciation would be more common with that versus [name_f]Annalise[/name_f].
I prefer the Dutch spelling Annelies ([name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_m]Frank[/name_m]'s first name) because that one is correctly pronounced Ahn-uh-lees. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] would be correctly pronounced Ahn-uh-lee-zuh in [name_m]German[/name_m] so technically she would always be pronouncing her own name wrong, which is actually why I took this awesome name off my list. [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] is a given spelling that is correct both in Danish and [name_m]French[/name_m] but is still pronounced like the [name_m]German[/name_m] way in Danish, but like Ahn-lees in [name_m]French[/name_m]. [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] is an Anglicized version which is kind of annoying that it’s a ‘variant’ spelling of the original name but at least it is being pronounced correctly. Anyway, I really like this name and I think all 4 of the spellings I’ve mentioned are classy and nice.
Oh yeah and I was the person who said “other” haha
