Anne Adèle

What do you think of the name [name]Anne[/name] [name]Ad[/name]èle? I’m thinking about putting it on my future list as a mn, both my mother, one of my sisters and my mil have the name [name]Anne[/name] in their names, my other sister and grandmother have the name [name]Adelle[/name]. My husband likes the [name]Ad[/name]èle spelling best though because its more common- is it ok to choose another spelling when you want to honor someone?

What about the following combos?

[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Ad[/name]èle
[name]Myriam[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Ad[/name]èle

The pronunciation is the same as [name]Adele[/name]/[name]Adelle[/name]. Any suggestions on combining the two names?

I think it sounds so pretty! I don’t think you necessarily have to spell it the same when honoring someone. My cousin’s middle name is after my grandmother and they added an “e” to the end of it.
Have you thought about it as a fn? I think [name]Anne[/name] [name]Adele[/name] as a first name is really pretty. Out of your two combos I like [name]Myriam[/name] [name]Anne[/name] Adle

I like [name]Anne[/name] [name]Adele[/name]! (Sorry, can’t do the French–or really any–accents on my laptop!) It seems more like a combo than a double name, though… and when you say it together, it sounds like [name]Anna[/name] [name]Dell[/name] to me rather than [name]Anne[/name] [name]Adele[/name]. I do like it, though, and love both names separately! [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Adele[/name] is lovely.

I agree that you don’t really have to worry about spelling it the same… my great-grandmother was [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], and if I honored her, I would use the [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name] spellings… The name still sounds the same so I don’t think it’s a huge deal.

I think something like [name]Adele[/name] [name]Anneliese[/name] would be stunning, as well, although much less French… I really like the idea of continuing [name]Adele[/name] for you, though–the nn [name]Addy[/name] is cute, [name]Adele[/name] isn’t that popular, and it has great family significance to you.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I thought about the running together sound of [name]Anne[/name] [name]Adele[/name] and decided it doesnt bother me, I think if introduced I would say [name]Anne[/name]…[name]Adele[/name] and it would be ok. I am weird about honoring and feel like it should be as close as possible, I guess Im weird lol. [name]Adele[/name] [name]Anne[/name] doesnt sound good imo so if I use them it has to be the other way around.

Im sort of debating on asking our moms what their favorite names are and what they would use and if its name we like maybe we could use them as a way to honor them…We’re starting to seriously talk about whether or not we will ttc or adopt so Im trying to get a list of real names I would actually use!

[name]Anne[/name] [name]Adele[/name] is so pretty! My great-grandfather had a sister named [name]Annie[/name] [name]Adel[/name] who went by [name]Della[/name]. I always thought it was lovely.
