Anneline?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!

I know it’s very uncommon, but what do you think of the name [name_f]Anneline[/name_f]? (Ann-el-een)

I love the name [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], but I don’t like how it would get shortened to Ang / [name_u]Angie[/name_u].
I prefer [name_f]Annie[/name_f] for [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], but I don’t think it would be too enforceable, especially since people could default to Ang. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is nice, but I think it could be a bit too frilly for my taste.
[name_m]Hence[/name_m], I was thinking [name_f]Anneline[/name_f], which sounds similar to [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] without the nickname Ang.

What do you guys think of [name_f]Anneline[/name_f], with the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f]?
Also, could [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] be [name_f]Annie[/name_f]?

Thank you!

I’ve never heard [name_f]Anneline[/name_f], but I think it’s really pretty!!! I think the [name_f]Annie[/name_f] nickname could definitely work for [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], but you are right that [name_u]Angie[/name_u] & [name_u]Angel[/name_u] are the most intuitive nicknames for [name_f]Angeline[/name_f]. I definitely think [name_f]Annie[/name_f] would be the most intuitive nickname for [name_f]Anneline[/name_f], so I think that’s perfect for you, if you love it!!!

[name_f]Anneline[/name_f] is definitely different and gives a unique spin to the bit tired (IMO) [name_f]Ann[/name_f] / [name_f]Anna[/name_f] although I will say I still prefer the [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] spin.

[name_u]An[/name_u] [name_f]Anneline[/name_f] would definitely be called [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_u]Anne[/name_u] for short.

I automatically default to “Ang” or “Angie” for [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] but [name_f]Annie[/name_f] could probably be swung.

Hopefully this helps!

It’s cute! Im

Very pretty and I adore [name_f]Annie[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Annie[/name_f] totally works for [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] but it might take some correcting to enforce it over the more common [name_u]Angie[/name_u].

[name_f]Anneline[/name_f] is super pretty, I prefer it to [name_f]Angeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is just darling!

I think an [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] could be an [name_f]Annie[/name_f] with some enforcing, but you’d also have to be prepared for her to decide she may want to be an [name_u]Angie[/name_u] one day. If you dislike [name_u]Angie[/name_u] that much, it’s best to avoid that possibility with other names that give you [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!

It’s probably just my brain but it sounds a bit like something else to me…

Still, more objectively, I like the sleekness of it and the unexpectedness.

I do prefer [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f] though

Unusual and lovely. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is lovely too
I don’t like Ang, either, but [name_f]Annie[/name_f] has a touch of class.

I’ve never seen it before, but I love it!!

(I do love names like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], so be warned I may be a touch biased haha)

I think [name_f]Anneline[/name_f] to [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is very intuitive, however, I think [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] is too! As long as you/she introduces herself as such, I see no problem

I love Anneline!! I’ve thought about this name numerous times for a daughter. I could definitely see an [name_f]Anneline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f].

FWIW - my name is [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] and from the get-go, my mom told everyone my name wouldn’t be shortened to “Stephie”, and everyone complied.

I really like it, it has such a sweet sound! I do pronounce it slightly differently from [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] (ANN-eh-leen over ann-gel-EEN) though, which I’m not sure if you want or not.

And yes, [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] could be [name_f]Annie[/name_f]! It depends on how often you’d use the nickname, though. For example, if she goes by [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] most of the time, most people would default to [name_u]Angie[/name_u] over [name_f]Annie[/name_f], especially when she’s a little older and doesn’t have you to correct her name. But if she were to go by [name_f]Annie[/name_f] full-time or a lot of the time it’d be much more likely to stick over [name_u]Angie[/name_u].

We almost named our [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_f]Anneline[/name_f], but we would have pronounced it to rhyme with “vine”. I think it’s a lovely name, and the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is intuitive. Bonus points for not being very common!

But if you love [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] more, yes, I think you can easily get away with using [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as the nickname.

I think I’m having the same thought :face_with_peeking_eye:

I like Angeline ‘Annie’!

[name_f]Anneline[/name_f] is lovely! I prefer it to [name_f]Angeline[/name_f] – it’s much softer and more elegant sounding to me. I will say, my favorite way to get [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I also like the simplicity of [name_u]Anne[/name_u]

Oh, we just decided to go with [name_f]Annie[/name_f], all by itself. [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. When it came down to it, [name_f]Annie[/name_f] was the name we really loved and would really want to call her, and having a “formal” name we didn’t intend to use seemed less and less important over time. It’s perfect for her. She loves to be called “just Annie”, no nicknames or embellishments.

But! If we HAD gone for a formal name, [name_f]Anneline[/name_f] was hands-down our favorite. :two_hearts:
