What do you guys think of the name [name]Annie[/name]? Is it too nickname-y for a full name? What full name would you use to get the nickname [name]Annie[/name]?
I absolutely adore [name]Annie[/name]! Right now I have [name]Hannah[/name] on my list, I might use [name]Annie[/name] as a nn for it, although I think it stands just fine on its own and I’m not sure I’d want to use a nn for [name]Hannah[/name]. But I do like that I have that option. I also love [name]Annika[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name], and [name]Annabel/name for the nn [name]Annie[/name]. I’ve been thinking of [name]Xanthe[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name] lately, too…
I can’t really see [name]Annie[/name] standing on its own, but I know others will disagree with me.
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Annie[/name], however it is too cutsy to use on it’s own. It can be a nickname for anything with [name]Ann[/name] in it, [name]Anne[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name]. I once knew a [name]Cheyanne[/name] who got called [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Annie[/name] is one of my absolute favorites. [name]Annie[/name] has been used on its own for so long that there is no reason it can’t be considered a name in its own right. This is a name that has never left the top 500 in the US. Personally, I would never for a moment consider giving my daughter a “full name” for [name]Annie[/name] when [name]Annie[/name] is the name I love. If [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Lily[/name] are acceptable, why not [name]Annie[/name]?
I agree that [name]Annie[/name] should stand on it’s own. However, I have to admit that when I watched the movie [name]Annie[/name] growing up, I always thought her official name was probably just [name]Anne[/name]. I could see [name]Annie[/name] being an [name]Annette[/name] also.
I so [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Annie[/name]. It is not only cute, but also very feminine. It was my Grandmother’s name so it is very special to me too!
If I had an [name]Annie[/name], [name]Anwen[/name] would be the full name I’d used to go with it. It’s a family name for me too. I love it
I love [name]Annie[/name], it was my great grandmother name but I would use the name [name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]
I love [name]Annie[/name], it’s adorable. I would use [name]Anna[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name] as it basically allows me to use two names I love but are far too close to use together, but I also rather like [name]Annika[/name] as well. I knew an [name]Annie[/name] when I was a child whose name was just [name]Annie[/name], and I don’t think it needs a full name to back it up. I guess it depends where you are, in the UK nobody would bat an eyelid as nicknamey type names ([name]Lexi[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Gracie[/name] etc) are all pretty high up the popularity stats.
And southernmaple, [name]Sophie[/name]'s the French variant of [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Lily[/name]'s a word name, so while they do get used as nicknames for [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Lillian[/name] or whatever, they’ve both got roots outside of that, unlike [name]Annie[/name].
I love [name]Annie[/name]. I love [name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name]
[name]Annie[/name]'s a great name. I know an amazing 11 year old named [name]Annie[/name] and it fits her perfectly
[name]Annie[/name] can stand on its own as many nicknames are now being chosen for first names. However, I think you should think about what you want to call your future children if you use a nn for a first child. Would you feel pressured to use other nicknames for other girls/boys? Would [name]Annie[/name] feel shortchanged if you went with names like [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Jonathan[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] for subsequent daughters and sons? [name]Just[/name] something to mull over before making a decision.

My given name is [name]Anne[/name], but I am always called [name]Annie[/name]. While [name]Annie[/name] is cute, I’ve never liked it for me personally. I really appreciate that I have a more formal name to use if I choose. [name]Even[/name] if you intend on always calling your child [name]Annie[/name], I would definitely give her the option of a less nickname-y, more professional name. My favourites are [name]Anneliese[/name], [name]Antonia[/name], and [name]Annemarie[/name].
That wasn’t the point. Like Sophie and Lily, Annie is two syllables, nickname-y, and ends in the long “e” sound. Most parents using Sophie aren’t choosing the name because it’s the French variant of Sophia, nor are most parents using Lily choosing the name because they like the flower. Consider Sophie, Lily, and Annie solely for their sound and feel. What makes Sophie and Lily acceptable while Annie is labelled as “too cutesy” and “unprofessional”? Personally I think it’s a bunch of bologna.
