On the night of my homecoming dance, the two of us go “all the way” for the first time. Two months later, I find out I’m pregnant after I vomit & faint in P.E. & am rushed to the hospital. The first person I tell is, of course, [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], who tells me that he wants the child & will do everything he can to support me. I work up the courage to tell my parents. Unfortunately, they’re not nearly as supportive & kick me out of the house. Over the next eight months, I & [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] work diligently at school & at our after-school jobs. I wanted to find out the baby’s gender, but [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] convinced me that it’ll be funner as a surprise. Both of us have filled out our applications for college & were accepted into our chosen schools. I am going to the University of Pennsylvania & will be studying biochemistry. I am devastated by the loss of [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], but am determined to provide for our child. I wrote a letter to my parents, letting them know I had my baby, but they never contact me, again. I keep in touch with Lucas’ family, promising to visit with [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] as often as I can. [name_f]English[/name_f] III becomes my favorite subject. I & [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] grow closer during the projects & I find myself looking for the smallest excuses to talk to him. He knows I’m a single mom &, suddenly, asks where Annaliese’s father is while the two of us are waiting to pick up our children from daycare. I tell him that Annaliese’s father, [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], was killed in a car accident. Then, I ask him when the twins’ mother is as I had noticed that he doesn’t wear a wedding band. He tells me that their mother, [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], had skipped out on them the year before & he hasn’t heard from her since. The two of us bond & [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] & the twins get along great.
I & [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] date for three years. He’s like a father to my [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f] & I’ve taken up a motherly role in the lives of his [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] & [name_u]Harper[/name_u]. He proposes to me by setting up a scavenger hunt for the children with a wedding ring at the end, knowing the children will bring it back to show me, by which point he’ll be down on one knee & we have a small, quaint wedding. After our two week long honeymoon to Venezuela, the two of us buy a big house, then I adopt the twins & he adopts [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f].
