Anouk prn?

[name_m]How[/name_m] exactly do you pronounce [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]? Does it rhyme with book, or fluke, or are both of those completely wrong?

Also, what do you think of the combo [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Kato[/name_u]? [name_f]Petra[/name_f] would be to honour my grandfather, and [name_u]Kato[/name_u] was my grandmother’s maiden name. Thanks :).

You can listen to the pronunciation here:

Pronunciations for anouk in Dutch (from Anouk Hoogendijk to Carice Anouk van Houten) (Dutch)

[name_f]My[/name_f] instinct would be to pronounce it to rhyme with fluke like ah-nuke. The combination [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Kato[/name_u] doesn’t have the best flow. [name_f]Petra[/name_f] is lovely, but I prefer [name_u]Kato[/name_u] on a boy.

Yeah, in the film Chocolat, [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] Binoche pronounces it ‘ah-noo-k’. It’s more like the end of [name_m]Luke[/name_m] than the double o in book, for me.

Okay thanks! I was hoping it would be closer to [name_m]Luke[/name_m] than book: I love the name, and I would be a little disappointed if it was the other way around. Thanks again.

It would be closer to [name_m]Luke[/name_m] than book, yes.

edit: [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Kato[/name_u]'s flow is off for me. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Petra[/name_f] as a name though.

I say it more fluke than book. I love [name_f]Petra[/name_f] and [name_u]Kato[/name_u], but prefer [name_u]Kato[/name_u] on a boy. Flow is off in my opinion. The repeated two syllable with a hard T sound in the middle just doesn’t work. [name_f]Petra[/name_f], [name_u]Kato[/name_u] and [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] would make a great sib-set!

If you watch the movie ‘Chocolate’ with [name_m]Johnny[/name_m] Deep in it, [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is the woman’s daughter. I think they pronounce it A-nook. I absolutely love the name and have since seeing the film. Also [name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Kato[/name_u] is a nice combo ; )

[name_m]French[/name_m] and Dutch speaker here, it’s like ah-NOOk. The “k” is almost an afterthought. [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is a popular Dutch singer out here as well.

I agree! I really do like [name_f]Petra[/name_f] very much
