I’m currently writing a YA horror novel series, and while I have names for the two main characters, I have next to no idea what to name the antagonists.
The first character I need assistance with is the antagonist for the first novel, but in subsequent installments, he’ll become another addition to my protagonists’ team.
Physically, he’s tall, with a medium-slim build, light brown hair and a copper-y (ginger?), neatly trimmed beard, and a resting bitch-face. Personality wise, he’s smart, charming, a bit cocky, and so often sick of the world’s shit.
As he’s to join my protagonists, I’d like a name that might go well with [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_u]Dustin[/name_u]. A masculine, powerful name would be preferred, though I wouldn’t be opposed to a third neutral name.
The other two I need belong to a father and son (or father and daughter?), who are the main, overall antagonists. I’d like the names to connect in meaning, and/or simply sound good together, as they’ll often be referred to together. The names also need to go well with the surname ‘Solace’.
The son/daughter is a little… not fleshed out at the moment. However, I do know that they’d be impatient, and have a bit of a temper. They agree with their father’s ideas, but whereas he’s doing what he’s doing for the good of humanity, they’re reaching a little further. They’re hoping to lead the new world in the aftermath.
Their father is more defined. Smart and assertive, stubborn and prideful. He truly believes the actions he’s taking are the right ones for the fate of the world, even though he knows others would not agree. He has no interest in how the world will govern itself once he’s done, so long as measures are taken to make sure the ‘issue’ (can you tell I’m struggling to not give too much away?) doesn’t occur again. He’d gladly give his life to make sure his vision is carried out.
I hope this wasn’t too long, and someone actually reads it! xD
Anyway, thank you in advance for your time, and for any suggestions you may have.
For the first character, I seem to be coming up with a lot of Irish names:
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m]
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m]
For the other two, I love the idea of a daughter. The whole concept of a child sort of using their father to get to the point where they could take over the world is something I could see as a boy, but I’d be much more interested in reading about devious girl doing that. It just seems more unexpected, if that makes sense. I’ll give ideas for both though.
Father/son names (I’ve added the meanings; I tried to use darker meanings)
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u] “dark river”
[name_m]Dunstan[/name_m] “dark stone”
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m] “dark skinned”
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] “ruler of all”
[name_m]Aziz[/name_m] “powerful, respected, beloved”
Cenric “bold power”
Godric “power of god”
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] “home ruler”
Ikenna “father’s power”
[name_m]Kendrick[/name_m] “royal power” or “bold power”
Leofric “dear, agreeable, beloved, power”
[name_m]Roderick[/name_m] “famous power”
[name_m]Ulrich[/name_m] “prosperity and power”
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] “ruler of the army”
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] “bear” or “king”
Khan “king, ruler”
[name_m]Kian[/name_m] “king, foundation, symbol of pride”
[name_m]Malik[/name_m] “king”
Daughter names:
[name_f]Kara[/name_f] “dark, black”
[name_f]Melaina[/name_f] “black, dark”
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] “black, dark”
[name_u]Nila[/name_u] “dark blue”
[name_f]Bree[/name_f] “power, high”
Kaimana “ocean, sea power”
[name_f]Velda[/name_f] “power, rule”
[name_f]Morrigan[/name_f] “great queen”
[name_f]Reina[/name_f] “queen”
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] “great queen”
Hopefully some of these will at least inspire. Good luck!
I don’t have much but for the first one, [name_m]Vance[/name_m] or [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] maybe?
For the father, maybe [name_m]Creed[/name_m]?
And for the daughter, the name [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] stands out to me as it means “father’s joy” and is more old fashioned in away and to me that adds kind of a creepy element.
Hmm, I really do like [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] and [name_m]Vance[/name_m]. And [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m], but I’m not sure it would fit for him?
For papa, I like [name_m]Malik[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m], and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f], and [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] for the kid. Maybe [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], or [name_f]Melanie[/name_f] and [name_m]Malik[/name_m]? Or is that too much alliteration? xD
Anyway, thank you for the help!
