Anthea or Althea

Ok partial to both, for different reasons but need to pick one.

Any input on which you like better and why.

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]!! I love the lively yet buttoned up feel, the potential nn of [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] too!!

I like both, though somewhat prefer the sound of [name_f]Althea[/name_f]. [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] is pretty well-known here in the UK because of the TV presenter [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] [name_m]Turner[/name_m], but neither of them are common names.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I like [name_f]Althea[/name_f] a lot, but I really adore [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]. It’s just a bit more mysterious. [name_f]Althea[/name_f] is sort of more old lady vintage (a style that I like a lot, & includes lots of names that are making comebacks!). The only thing is that I feel like [name_f]Althea[/name_f] is fairly straight forward in pronunciation, but is [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]? I say it ‘Ahn-thee-uh’, but it could be said ‘[name_f]Anne[/name_f]-thee-uh’ too. I’m not totally sure I’m even personally saying it right. I just think that the one ‘n’ makes me think of the ‘ahn’ pronunciation. And I find that prettier. I love the nn [name_f]Ani[/name_f]! [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is also cute.

Hopefully my rambling helps.

[name_f]Althea[/name_f]! Because I personally don’t really like ‘An’ names. [name_f]Althea[/name_f] sounds more fresh to me.

Both are lovely, but I prefer [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] because of the nicknames.

I’m partial to [name_f]Anthea[/name_f], having loved that name for a while.

However, both names are similar and wonderful so I think you have the chance to choose based on the nicknames you like! (You get the nickname possibility of [name_f]Thea[/name_f] for both!) [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Al[/name_m]? [name_f]Ally[/name_f]? [name_f]Alia[/name_f]? Then go with [name_f]Althea[/name_f]. [name_f]Ann[/name_f]? [name_f]Annie[/name_f]? Then go with [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]!

[name_f]Althea[/name_f] is super pretty. I also love [name_f]Alethea[/name_f] ([name_m]Ah[/name_m]-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-thee-uh).

I prefer [name_f]Anthea[/name_f]. I just like the sound more, and the potential for [name_f]Ann[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f] nicknames. Such a stylish name!

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]. The [name_m]Al[/name_m] sound combined with [name_f]Thea[/name_f], not a fan.

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] however, is beautiful. [name_u]Love[/name_u] all the nn possibilities as others have said.

 also, I’ve heard althea, never a [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] !

[name_f]Anthea[/name_f] is my favourite! x

I love [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] because like another user said, nn could be [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], etc. However, [name_f]Althea[/name_f] sounds so sweet and as someone who is a fan of [name_f]Athena[/name_f], I love [name_f]Althea[/name_f].
