Genre of [name_u]Story[/name_u]: [name_f]Fantasy[/name_f]
Time Period/Location: ~1920’s
Character Description: I made a doodle of him
Personality-wise he’s a book-ish sort, who would rather read the theories of the magical nonsense that governs his world than actually practice their application. He’s generally polite and tidy but not stiff, actually, he’s quite friendly in a sincere, but not particularly charming and verging on annoying sort of way. I don’t want his name to be too at odds with his personality.
Brief Plot: Paranormal investigator/ necromancer bumbles his way through a magical world, dark undercurrents are hinted at, apocalypses are averted, and a lot of hats are lost in the process.
Who named the character: His parents wrote the name on the birth certificate, but his Aunties (technically great-aunts) were pulling the strings, and his aunts’ taste in names tends to be more old fashioned, along the lines of dusty sounding victorian/edwardian names.
Immediate Family (if relevant): The family name is [name_m]Ives[/name_m], despite the fact it brings to my mind vague thoughts of lotion it sounds good and I’ve already made a family crest for them so his surname is definitely [name_m]Ives[/name_m].
Already Considered (if relevant): [name_m]Hiram[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_u]Ira[/name_u], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_m]Percival/name_m, [name_u]Christobel[/name_u], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m], Milorad/Milovan([name_m]Milo[/name_m]), Osais, [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] I rather like all these names but none of them feel quite right to me. I know most of these names are of the softer side but I think a meaty ‘manly’ name with a good bit of consonants might work as a middle name if it’s preceded by a short vowel-y first name like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
Anything else?: I am partial to 2-2-1 and 1-3-1 syllable patterns, but that’s not set in stone.
