I have always heard it pronounced ahn-toe-nee-ah, so that’s how I say it.
I say it: an as in ant, t as in town, own as in own, yuh, as in yuck
an-town-yuh
[name]EDIT[/name]:
googled a better way of breaking it down, I say it as an-tone-yuh, like the first link here:
The second way. I’d only use the first pronunciation for a name spelled Antanya or maybe [name]Antonya[/name].
I said Ahn-toe-nee-ah but the last two syllables kinda run together… oh and I realized I pronounce the beginning like the beginning of [name]Andrew[/name]. So, ann-tow-nyah if that makes sense.
Beautiful name. I would say ann-TOE-nee-yah (like [name]Antonio[/name], but with an “a”). But I would expect a true Italian to pronounce it AHN-toe-NEE-yah. I could be (and probably am) wrong about that, but I’m sure someone will correct me if I am.
Ahn-toe-nee-ah, though I tend to say it with more of an [name]ANN[/name] sound at the front.
