any opinions welcome

Our first child (a son) is due in a few weeks and we are having some real issues with names. We had been calling the baby one particular name and told EVERYONE and now we have totally backed out (and had to untell everyone). We are thinking of bringing a list with us to the hospital, but I would still like some feedback. Our last name is quite difficult to work with as it is a long italian name with the first syllable sounding like a dirty slang word for female anatomy, so I would like to avoid a whole dirty phrase.

here is our list:

[name]Henry[/name] ?
[name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Brady[/name] ?
[name]Kamden[/name] [name]Roy[/name] <—this is the name we told everyone, we loved it because it seemed different to us and is kinda a combo of our first names. but now we have major doubts about it.

(the ? is because I don’t have a middle to pair with it)

We are all over the place and nothing seems perfect. He will probably have dark blondish hair with green eyes. Any ideas or opinions would be welcome.

Congratulations on your new baby boy! Here are my thoughts on your names:

[name]Henry[/name] - I love it!! Very classic and doesn’t feel trendy, even though it is gaining popularity.

[name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] - I like [name]Evan[/name] and really like [name]Daniel[/name]. Again, both very classic names.

[name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] - I am not as fond of [name]Everett[/name] (for some reason it seems a bit country-ish to me) but I love love love [name]James[/name]. Very classic, traditional, and elegant.

[name]Brady[/name] - I don’t love [name]Brady[/name].

[name]Sam[/name]- I like [name]Samuel[/name] better than [name]Sam[/name].

[name]Kamden[/name] [name]Roy[/name]- I think if this name has meaning for you, that adds a lot of power to your choice. I don’t love [name]Kamden[/name] (I like it better spelled [name]Camden[/name], but still am not fond of this name. It seems a bit trendy and more feminine than your other choices.) Also, I think [name]Roy[/name] adds a decidedly country flavor to the name (I think of [name]Roy[/name] [name]Rogers[/name]).

All in all, I think you should go with something you love, and that you think will “wear well” as he ages. I tend to think that, of your choices, [name]Henry[/name], [name]Sam[/name] and [name]Evan[/name] would serve well from his baby years through old age. Good luck!

[name]Henry[/name] - great for all ages. Maybe [name]Henry[/name] [name]Sam[/name] as a pairing, since you have [name]Sam[/name] on your last too?
[name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] - Ooh, I like [name]Evan[/name], and the combination with [name]Daniel[/name] has nice flow.
[name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] - Also nice, but I think I like the pairing of [name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] better. I guess I have trouble picturing a 20-something [name]Everett[/name]
[name]Brady[/name] - It’s all right
[name]Sam[/name] - I’d go for [name]Samuel[/name] and call him [name]Sam[/name], rather than just [name]Sam[/name]. [name]Sam[/name] alone seems very informal, and that’s not great for all situations.
[name]Kamden[/name] [name]Roy[/name] - I’m from NJ, so to me [name]Kamden[/name] should be [name]Camden[/name]. It’s not the nicest of cities - I think it was the murder capital of the Northeast for more than a few years - but that’s the image that I get from it.

For me it’s a tie between [name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] and [name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name] or [name]Samson[/name] nn [name]Sam[/name]! Two of my faves.

[name]Brady[/name] is my favorite from your list.

Sounds like your baby will be gorgeous with his blonde hair and green eyes. I will try to give names that fit with description.

If you want a short name that is actually a full name then I suggest [name]Dan[/name], as [name]Sam[/name] is a nn only. (Although all [name]Dan[/name]'s, [name]Daniels[/name] are dark haired in my book)

I really like [name]Cameron[/name] which is very similar to [name]Camden[/name]. (I think traditional spelling is best btw)

I like [name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] nn [name]Rhett[/name] as in Gone with the Wind!

However, you cannot go wrong with [name]James[/name] in fn position.

[name]Cameron[/name] [name]James[/name]

[name]Evan[/name] [name]Camden[/name]

[name]James[/name] [name]Everett[/name]

[name]Evan[/name] [name]Michael[/name]

I don’t mind [name]Brady[/name] but not a favourite maybe [name]Brock[/name] [name]Henry[/name]? (My imaginary Henrys have dark hair though)

[name]Paul[/name] [name]Everett[/name]

[name]Love[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name], too.

[name]Henry[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Henry[/name].
[name]Henry[/name] [name]James[/name] (though, thats a historical figure)
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Everett[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Camden[/name]

[name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] - Strong name

[name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] - This is my favorite of your names. It has a great flow, its very strong, not popular… in short, its perfect

[name]Brady[/name] - I like it as a middle name… (see [name]Sam[/name])

[name]Sam[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sam[/name] - so simple.
[name]Sam[/name] [name]Brady[/name]
[name]Sam[/name] [name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Sam[/name] [name]Everett[/name]
[name]Sam[/name] [name]Camden[/name]

[name]Kamden[/name] [name]Roy[/name] - in general I’m not a fan of changing C’s to K’s, and its a trendy name right now that might fall in with the Kaydens/Cadens. However, [name]Camden[/name] [name]Roy[/name] flows beautifully.

[name]Henry[/name]: I love [name]Henry[/name]!

[name]Henry[/name] [name]Augustin[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Elias[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]

[name]Evan[/name]: I’m not personally an [name]Evan[/name] fan, but I do like the flow of this combo…

[name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name]: I think this is fantastic!

[name]Brady[/name]: [name]Brady[/name] has become very trendy, and reminds me of the [name]Braden[/name]/[name]Jaden[/name] names.

Other similar names:

[name]Sam[/name]: I love [name]Samuel[/name], but not [name]Sam[/name] on its own.

[name]Samuel[/name] [name]August[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Conrad[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Edward[/name]

[name]Kamden[/name] [name]Roy[/name]: I personally prefer the other names on your list. [name]Kamden[/name], especially with a K, feels and looks pretty trendy to me.

From your list, [name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] is my favorite combo.

Good luck!

Congratulations on your upcoming addition!

[name]Henry[/name] - I really like [name]Henry[/name]. I think I like the sound of [name]Henry[/name] [name]Everett[/name], too.
[name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] - I really like this pair of names. Good choice!
[name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] - Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of [name]Everett[/name] as a first name. Not to say it isn’t a good name, just isn’t my favorite.
[name]Brady[/name] - Another one that just doesn’t hit me.
[name]Sam[/name] - I like [name]Sam[/name] but would probably go with [name]Samuel[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Henry[/name]?
[name]Kamden[/name] [name]Roy[/name] - I think it’s nice that you’re expanding your list. I think the C to K thing is pretty trendy. It’s the type of thing where he’s always going to be correcting people, unfortunately.

Good luck!

[name]Just[/name] be cautious about [name]Henry[/name]. A nickname for [name]Henry[/name] is [name]Harry[/name], and paired with a word for female anatomy it could sound awful. I know this because we had thought seriously about [name]Henry[/name] but our last name is Balzer and were too afraid of him being called “[name]Harry[/name] Balz”

Looks like everyone loves [name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name]. To the OP what do you think?

thanks everyone for the feedback!

I totally did not think about that with [name]Henry[/name] (nn [name]Harry[/name])!!! The list of names that could potentially sound dirty with our last name is longer than the list of names I like! I was trying to convince hubby of [name]Henry[/name] so I could give the nn [name]Rio[/name]!

I do like [name]Everett[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Evan[/name] [name]Daniel[/name] a lot. My husband and I are still working on adding to our list, I don’t think the perfect name has come to us yet. 7 more weeks to work on that!

I like [name]Henry[/name], [name]Everett[/name] & [name]Evan[/name] ([name]Evander[/name])
