I will probably describe this very badly but what I mean is are there any specific dates or times of the year where if you had a child born on it, you would have a certain name picked out for them? For example, if I had a daughter born on [name_u]January[/name_u] 15 (which is [name_m]Martin[/name_m] [name_m]Luther[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] Jr.'s birthday) I would name her [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] K____ (my last name) so her initials would be MLK in honor of [name_m]Martin[/name_m] [name_m]Luther[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m].
[name_f]Neva[/name_f] for a girl born in winter.
That is so cool!
I’ve never thought about this really. I’m not big on holiday themed names, seasonal names, or anything like that. But birthday honors is a really cool ideas.
If I had a baby born on one of my parents’ birthdays, maybe I’d name them:
[name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Greta[/name_f] “[name_f]Millie[/name_f]” / [name_u]Merit[/name_u] [name_m]Garen[/name_m] “[name_u]Merry[/name_u]” (my dad!)
or
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] / [name_m]Alastor[/name_m] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] (my mom!)
honestly, call me cheesy but i would give a valentine’s day baby the middle name valentine (fem) or valentin (masc) i already love the name so i wouldn’t be using it just because of the holiday, though! i’d probably do a themed name for a baby born on christmas/christmas eve/new years, but i’m not sure what - maybe klaus, nikola, or noël for a boy’s middle name! i don’t love any of the christmassy girls’ names so i don’t think i’d use one
well idk about small holidays like MLK day as i feel no need to honor him (DEF not saying he was bad i’m just saying i don’t really have a personal connection with MLK lol)
however, holidays like christmas, thanksgiving, new years, valentines day, maybe saint pattys day even, i would do a name that corresponds to those holidays / times of year. so like for christmas i might do a name like shepherd / paloma, or for thanksgiving / fall i’d do a name like mavis or bartholomew. for another ex. for spring i’d do a name like olive, rosie or tallulah. or for summer smth like blake or palmer.
for saint patrick’s day, maybe an irish name or valentines day maybe a name that means love or something like that!
hope that all makes sense
Only the birthdays of fictional characters…
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] as a middle if they’re born on Christmas/New Year’s [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
[name_u]Holly[/name_u] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] for [name_u]December[/name_u] my birthday is in [name_u]December[/name_u] on the 9th and the middle is her name
[name_u]Leo[/name_u] [name_m]Donald[/name_m] my dad was born in [name_u]August[/name_u] his name is the middle name
Definitely cheesy but I would name a girl born on Valentine’s day [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and a boy born on St. Patrick’s day [name_m]Patrick[/name_m].
I do like a lot of Christmassy girl names, not so much for boys, although I do like [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and [name_u]Noel[/name_u].
For girls (Christmas and winter in general): [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], Elsa/Elsie, Neve/Neva, [name_f]Christina[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u]
If I had a child on my birthday they would have [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] somewhere in their name in honor of me.
I think [name_u]Love[/name_u] or another name meaning “love” would be a really sweet middle for a Valentine’s [name_u]Day[/name_u] baby.
I do have some names on my lists that feel more summery and others that are more wintery that I maybe wouldn’t use at another time of year e.g. [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] “snow” would have to be a winter baby I think.
valentine
noël / klaus / maryam / clara / josephine
mae / thomas / margaret (or) daisy / mattea
I’ve done a fair amount of ancestry research so I wrote down all the relatives birthdays around my due date for possible middle names. [name_f]My[/name_f] first baby didn’t land on one of the dates. [name_f]My[/name_f] second landed on his great great uncle’s so I used his!
One of my favorite combos is [name_f]Layla[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] - and since it means “greatest night”, I’d be more likely to use it for a girl born at night
Oh 100%
My autumn born daughter’s name would need to include Autumn. In my mind she would be Rose Christabel Autumn no buts Autumn is a must. She’s currently not on my list because in my FIL accent (he’s west African) it sounds odd. But if my girl is born in October the most autumnal month ever she’s gonna have Autumn in her name
I think children born around (for me) major spiritual holidays it’s nice to honour. A girl born on Christmas Day will be Clara Clementine Jane (KLAARA) this is just a must you need to embrace Christmas! Similarly a son born on Christmas Day will need to have a name featuring Robin that would be a must. Solomon Robin John would be delightfully tranquil and Christmassy. Similarly embrace a name meaning light for a baby born during Hanukkah I think Clara or Beacon could be fun. With Easter and Passover Aviva, Daisy, Boaz & Pascoe would be very cool.
A Valentine’s Day baby would have Valentine or Loveday in their name!
If I had a daughter around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u], her name would def be [name_f]Novelia[/name_f]
I don’t usually lean into holiday/seasonal names but I must admit I’m currently due the first day of Hanukkah and I’m diving deep into the Hasmonean dynasty (Judah, [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m], Mac-something).
A lot of names have a more fall/winter or spring/summer feel to me which might have some influence on my choices in general. As for specifics, if I had a baby very close to a family member’s birthday I would probably lean more towards one of my middle name ideas that honors that person and if I had a [name_u]December[/name_u] baby I would strongly consider [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] “Mattie” because it has a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] related special meaning for me.
I wouldn’t choose a name specifically for that reason, but I appreciate a nod if there is one.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first was born a few days after [name_f]Spring[/name_f] Festival and her name is one of the first flowers to bloom in spring. It wasn’t why we chose it but it sure felt like one of the many reasons that name was the one.
Perhaps Louisa, Katri or Linnea if I had a daughter in late June or early January (honors to my grandma, she’s born in January and late June is a really significant month to her)
If I used Talvi, the kid would have to be a winter baby too. Syksy obviously for an autumn baby.
I think I’d only use Aamu if the kid was born in the morning.
I think a middle name honoring the holiday would be really cute. [name_f]My[/name_f] cousin had her daughter on Valentines day and I was a disappointed that her middle name wasn’t [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] or [name_u]Rose[/name_u] or something.
[name_u]Coco[/name_u], [name_u]Rose[/name_u], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] or [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] for Valentines day, [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] or [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] for St. Patricks day, [name_f]Bunny[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f], or [name_f]Esther[/name_f] for [name_f]Easter[/name_f], [name_u]Jack[/name_u] or [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] for Halloween, [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_u]Basil[/name_u] for Thanksgiving, [name_f]Eve[/name_f] for [name_u]New[/name_u] Years [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] for Leap [name_u]Day[/name_u] (IV).
Kind of random, but [name_m]Jason[/name_m] Kelce’s (Player for the Eagles football team) wife [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] was 8&1/2 months pregnant when the Eagles played in the [name_u]Super[/name_u] Bowl. They mentioned on their podcast that if their daughter had been born on the day [name_m]Jason[/name_m] played in the [name_u]Super[/name_u] Bowl, they would have named her [name_u]Scotty[/name_u] [name_u]Bennett[/name_u], so her initials would be SB. It didn’t end up happening but I would have been a cute way to honor her dad playing in the [name_u]Super[/name_u] Bowl.
