Any way to honor all of these important ladies?

I would love your help in finding a girl’s name to honor a number of different important women in my life. The only thing is, I don’t care for many of their names! Here are the names:

[name_f]Barbara[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]
[name_f]Anne[/name_f]

I wouldn’t want to use [name_f]Barbara[/name_f], [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_f]Susan[/name_f], or [name_f]Judith[/name_f]. So there’s the challenge! I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but only as a middle. I do like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] or maybe [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and would be open to another form of any of these names…for example, I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but not [name_u]Joan[/name_u]. Anyway, if you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. Thanks!

Hmmm… [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] for all the Anns. [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] is a tough one… Maybe another B name: [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Bree[/name_f], [name_f]Baila[/name_f]… or the very exotic [name_f]Varvara[/name_f] (the Russian version of [name_f]Barbara[/name_f]). [name_f]Jane[/name_f] for [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_u]June[/name_u] for [name_f]Judith[/name_f]… [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Liza[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], Lizabet, [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (though I do think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a fabulous name!). [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshannah[/name_f], or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] for [name_f]Susan[/name_f] (since [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] means lily).

[name_f]Barbara[/name_f] means ‘foreign’ as do:

[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] (foreign riches)
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] (famous warrior; foreign)

‘[name_f]Ella[/name_f]’ could also be short for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]/ [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

The best I can do incorporate them all is:

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] nn ‘[name_f]Ella[/name_f]’

Other ideas:

[name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] could be [name_u]Josie[/name_u] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].

[name_f]Judy[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Judith[/name_f].

‘[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]’ is a gorgeous combo that has the sounds of most of the names in it.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] use [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] as a middle name. That way you get the [name_u]Jo[/name_u]- from [name_u]Joan[/name_u] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] from all the rest

AND you only use 1 middle spot leaving you with one or two spots to add names that you love!

I think using some form of [name_f]Ann[/name_f] as a middle paired with a name you love as a first could honor everyone at once.

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelise[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]

I think this is a very neat solution! Use [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] or [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (or [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_f]Susanne[/name_f], [name_f]Suzanna[/name_f] etc etc) as a middle and that covers [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and all the Anns and Annas. [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] might work too, since it is a both a variant of [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]/[name_u]Joan[/name_u] and still contains the [name_f]Anna[/name_f] part.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is probably the most versatile of the names since it has so many variants and nicknames. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] or [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] would be lovely combos or two middles.

I love [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] as forms of [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] is an old diminutive of [name_f]Anne[/name_f], common in the Georgian era. I believe either the [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] sisters or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] used it in one of their books, but right now, my sleep deprived brain can’t remember which.

As far as the others go:

[name_f]Susan[/name_f] (meaning ‘lily’) - [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f], [name_f]Susie[/name_f], [name_f]Sosie[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]

[name_u]Joan[/name_u] - [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Joanne[/name_f], [name_f]Johannah[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u]

[name_f]Judith[/name_f] - [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]

[name_f]Barbara[/name_f] - [name_f]Bettina[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Bonita[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f]

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Bethan[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]

Your most problematic name is [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f], since the others all contain ‘[name_f]Ann[/name_f]’. [name_f]My[/name_f] pick would probably [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] because it honours the middle names of all four, and it’s a nice name. [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] is a super cute variant but I would probably use it as a short form.

I think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] could also work well because ‘[name_f]Belle[/name_f]’ has sometimes been used as a short form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and you’d have a strong ‘b’ sound which also helps you with [name_f]Barbara[/name_f]. and some etymologies have [name_u]Joan[/name_u] as related to the [name_f]Ann[/name_f]- family of names through a shared meaning via [name_m]Johannes[/name_m], so you don’t necessarily need to have a [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-, but I think [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/h is a more elegant solution to incorporating [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] anyway.

Thanks for your help! I like the idea of a middle name that combines something from [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f] with a form of [name_f]Ann[/name_f], like [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] or [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]. I prefer the sound of [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and like that it honors the middle names- good solution! I also like [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]… maybe [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] Annelies. I’ve been thinking of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as well. Thanks again!

[name_f]Johanna[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_m]Both[/name_m] beautiful- thanks!

I think [name_f]Ann/name_f covers all the middles, even [name_f]Susan[/name_f] (has the [name_f]Ann[/name_f] sound at the end).

[name_f]Barb[/name_f]ara [name_f]Ann[/name_f]: [name_f]Arianne[/name_f]/Arriana
[name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Susan[/name_f]: [name_f]Josianna[/name_f], [name_f]Anjie[/name_f], [name_f]Anja[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]: [name_f]Julianna[/name_f], Ithica
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f]: [name_f]EliAnna[/name_f], [name_f]Bess[/name_f], [name_f]Zanna[/name_f], Zianna, [name_f]Elianna[/name_f], Elysianna, Elsianna
