hello, berries. I’ve been looking through this website for years now and it’s finally my time to ask for help. I’m having my little rainbow baby in less than a week! And considering the 5 babies we lost before, we didn’t want to think of names just to be disappointed and heartbroken again and now that our chances of finally succeeding on extending our family are good, we want the perfect name. We’ve been through many, many lists and many, many favourites until we got stuck between [name_f]Anya[/name_f] and [name_u]Arya[/name_u]. I actually find it funny that not too long ago another berry posted in these forums with the same last name as ours and with one of the names we chose, hopefully she won’t mind if we end up picking the same name. Names are pronounced AHN-ya and ARE-ya, our last name is [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] and we are not thinking about middle names, at least not until we choose a first one. Which one of these would you choose, if it were you? Thank you in advance.

Both names are very pretty…w/your surname I prefer [name_u]Arya[/name_u], as the first syllable of [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is a bit rhyme-y w/the first syllable of [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] (Ahn-ya Ahz-wald?). But IDK how many people would even notice that, or perhaps [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] is pronounced differently from what I’ve heard in the northeastern US.
I vote for [name_f]Anya[/name_f].

To my ears, [name_f]Anya[/name_f] Osw@ld sounds lovely. And it is also my favourite although both are nice.

Definitely a vote for [name_f]Anya[/name_f]! While [name_u]Arya[/name_u] is a gorgeous name, I think it is too close with the pop culture association. I’ve always loved the timeless, bright, sweet [name_f]Anya[/name_f]. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] has such a happy, vibrant ring to it.
I think [name_u]Arya[/name_u] goes a little better with your surname, but I love [name_f]Anya[/name_f] too… either is a fantastic choice!
I really like [name_u]Arya[/name_u] but I have to say I find [name_f]Anya[/name_f] 0swald easier on my tongue. But if you really can’t decide, I would come up with a mn for both and determine who she is when you meet her. Though because they are so similar, I bet you could find a mn that would work for either.
I had a cousin [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] “[name_f]Anya[/name_f],” so that always feels like a nickname to me, while [name_u]Arya[/name_u] feels like a complete name. I would choose [name_u]Arya[/name_u], and I think [name_u]Arya[/name_u] [name_m]Stark[/name_m] is a great association, while [name_f]Anya[/name_f] reminds me of the animated movie [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], which I didn’t really care for as a child, so I’m obviously a little biased. However, I think both are beautiful and go well with your surname, so I don’t think you can lose here.
P.S. I posted this and then thought, WOW, [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] would be absolutely gorgeous. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought!
