[name_f]Noelle[/name_f] has always been a name I had liked but I wouldn’t say it was at the top of my list. However, my FI fell in love with it and would always say it was his choice and how he loved it. That made me start picturing having a daughter named [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and him loving her name which made me fall in love with the name even more. Does this happen to anyone else? Does your SO’s love for a name influence your feelings on it?
Absolutely. That’s why [name_f]Brigid[/name_f] is on our list. It’s not a name I ever would have considered myself, but he loves it so I figured I should at least try to like it and see if it would grow on me. I’m very attached to it now.
YES. That is actually where our son’s name came from- my husband read [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Karenina and said of the name [name_m]Levin[/name_m], “huh, I kind of like that.” Since he never shows any enthusiasm for any name ever and would take dental work over name discussions, I immediately decided that we would name our hypothetical son [name_m]Levin[/name_m]. And a mere seven years later, we did.
[name_f]Glad[/name_f] I’m not the only one. Whenever he shows alot of interest in a name, it instantly starts growing on me.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] were all his picks and his talking them up has brought me around. It’s pretty adorable when he talks about them.
He hasn’t managed to bring me around on [name_f]Siobhan[/name_f] or [name_u]Raven[/name_u]. He’d have to have a pretty silver tongue to make those work for me.
He likes fewer boys names and I don’t think I’ve heard him carry on about many at all, mostly the most he does is say “that’s all right” about one of mine. Can you tell he wants girls?
I’m the outlier here!
My husband has really…quirky taste in names. What he tends to like, I don’t – and vice versa! For our first little one, due next week, his favorites were: [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] for a boy (they’re so distinguished sounding! he insisted), [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] for a girl. Totally not my speed. He hated all of my picks too, haha!
I did love his enthusiasm for [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], though, even if I couldn’t go there with the name. [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] was the name of the demonically possessed doll from The Conjuring. That doll gave me serious nightmares.
Absolutely! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] was the first name my DH ever mentioned to me. Although before that I wasn’t a fan (at all, actually), it instantly made me like it.
He is completely in love with our boy choice, [name_m]Macsen[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. So in love with it, in fact, that I couldn’t even consider changing it.
Absolutely!
My S/O and I kept throwing around ideas and nothing really stuck, but then he found [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. I liked it a lot right off the bat, but I didn’t love it and didn’t expect it to stick. But he started referring to our “little [name_f]Luna[/name_f]” and “[name_f]Luna[/name_f] moona” and “mi/mia [name_f]Luna[/name_f]” (we’re Spanish and Italian) and I couldn’t help but fall in love with it! It’s still not even my favorite name, and sometimes I wonder how it will age, but it’s definitely what we’ll be naming a daughter.
Yes definitely!
It hasn’t happened to me as such, but I guess you could say it happened the other way around with me and my ex.
I’ve loved the name [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] for so long. When we were first ttc and I told him that was the name I’d love to use for a girl, I could tell he was uncertain. But once he realised how much I loved it, and started picturing it on our own child, he grew to love it.
He loved the name [name_f]Esme[/name_f] when he first came across it and that made me like it more. It was already on my long list, but made it’s way to the top for a period of time. Whilst I still like the name, it was more of just a momentarily crush.
