Anyone else out there planning on naming their SON Maxwell?

I’m just curious to your reactions of [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] hijacking a perfectly nice boy’s name for her lil’ girl.
I’m scheduled to be induced on Friday and [name]Maxwell[/name] is the name I had picked out for my boy. A bit peeved she beat me to it. lol
Now I know JS and I don’t run in the same crowds and celebs are notorious for picking wacky names. But I would hate for this to be a new trend for naming baby girls such masculine names.

I feel your pain, and although I’m not planning on having a child named [name]Maxwell[/name], I just think it’s awful for a little girl.

[name]Do[/name] you still plan to use it? I’d hate for it to put mothers to be off the name, because it is a perfectly gorgeous boys name and sincerely hope that it doesn’t set off other names being hijacked because people seem to think that if a celebrity does it that means we can all do it for some strange reason.

Although having said I’m baffled that people actually want to use [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Rory[/name], [name]Finlay[/name], [name]James[/name] on little girls but luckily for me I live in the UK and the trend hasn’t really appeared yet.

Didn’t [name]Lindsay[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] pick this name too a few months ago? [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Lue[/name], I think. Honestly, I absolutely hate it on a girl. I mean, if they’re so desperate to NN their daughters [name]Max[/name] or [name]Maxi[/name] or whatever, they should name them [name]Maxine[/name]. (Sorry, had to vent…) That being said, I think it’s cute for a boy.

I’ll still use it because in the scheme of things I know it’s all quite silly. My husband loves it and I’ve been calling him [name]Maxwell[/name] for the last 5 months. I SUPPOSE I can share

Didn’t Lindsay Sloane pick this name too a few months ago? Maxwell Lue, I think. Honestly, I absolutely hate it on a girl. I mean, if they’re so desperate to NN their daughters Max or Maxi or whatever, they should name them Maxine. (Sorry, had to vent…) That being said, I think it’s cute for a boy.

This right here is how I feel. [name]Maxwell[/name] if very handsome for a boy and naming her [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name] is just too much. [name]Maxwell[/name] with a girls middle name I could maybe shrug off, [name]Drew[/name] with a girls first name to offset the “manly” meaning…but together? Sigh…

I wouldn’t worry about it. I don’t understand the insistence of some to give their daughters boys names when there are so many lovely girls names out there. But it’s not going to deter me from using a name I love. [name]Elliot[/name] is one of my top three boys names, and I’m going to use it regardless of some actress picking Elliotte or some such nonsense for her daughter. [name]Maxwell[/name] is and shall remain in my mind a boys name.

[name]Maxwell[/name] isn’t on my list but if it were, it would strictly be on the BOY’S list. There are girls out there with completely masculine names ([name]Kevyn[/name], [name]Devin[/name], [name]Kyle[/name], and [name]Ryann[/name] are all girls I know) and I just really don’t get it. I wouldn’t worry about [name]Maxwell[/name] crossing over into girl territory. It doesn’t sound feminine in the slightest. Though I don’t agree, there are some boy names I can KIND OF see why they could sound a tiny bit feminine, but this is NOT one of them.

This!

I get so irked when I see [name]James[/name] on a girl especially. Ditto to [name]Logan[/name]. I haven’t seen [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Finlay[/name] yet. [name]Elliot[/name] I can understand though, I don’t like it, but I understand it.

[name]Maxwell[/name] is awful on a girl. With [name]Drew[/name] as the middle? Ugh.

I like [name]Maxwell[/name] a lot though. It’s in the back of my mind.

When I heard that JS had a kid named [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name] I said aww that’s a cute name for a little boy. Then my friend told me that she had a girl. That kinda irks me. If her name was [name]Drew[/name], I would be cool with it. I know a little girl named [name]Drew[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] and she is the girliest girl on the planet. But [name]Maxwell[/name]? WHY???

I hadn’t heard that before now. [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name]? Maybe she was hoping for a boy? That is all boy to me.
I would use it anyway if I were you, it IS a boys name.
Bit like [name]Apple[/name]… that trend didn’t take off.

[name]Maxwell[/name] is currently in our top 5 if this baby is a boy (and NOT on the list if it’s a girl!) and DH and I have been discussing all evening whether to keep it on the list or not. Honestly we might switch it to “middle only” status–more because we don’t like the recent celebrity association than because we think it’s going to suddenly be a big trend for girls, though. I don’t think [name]Maxwell[/name] specifically is going to go to the girls, but it is pretty well-established that today’s parents like to push the boundaries of boys names by using them on girls, right? In one of my toddler’s gym classes last year she was the only girl with a girls’ name!

Does anyone else think that [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] used that name in a desperate bid for attention? I just feel like she saw all the attention [name]Beyonce[/name] got for naming her kid [name]Blue[/name] [name]Ivy[/name] and thought, “Hey, I’m also a pop star having a girl! Let me name her something outlandish and get some free publicity out of it!”

[name]Love[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name] for a boy though. To all those who have it on their list, please don’t take it off! I’d hate to see if go the way of [name]Riley[/name] and all the other boy names that have been kidnapped by girls.

I thought it was nice… Until I found out it was a girl… YUCK

Ugh, I think [name]Maxwell[/name] is a horrible choice for a girl. I can’t help but feel sorry for that child.
I don’t see that name ever going to the girls, but I could be proven wrong. Either way it is a boys name through and through, I would use it.

Ugh, poor little girl. I think [name]Maxwell[/name] will remain solidly on the boy’s side (or at least I hope). There are so many perfectly good girls’ names and more feminine-sounding gender neutral names…I’m not sure what Ms. [name]Simpson[/name] was thinking!

[name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] does not strike me as the attention seeking type. hahaha! Of course she is hopong for as much milage in the media she can grasp from this pregnancy.

Anyway - name your son [name]Maxwell[/name]! It is a great boys name with a long and recent history. There are pleanty of other boys named [name]MAx[/name] these days so that the name will not be eclipsed by [name]Jessica[/name]'s spawn.

[name]Maxwell[/name] is her husband’s middle name and [name]Drew[/name] is her mom’s maiden name. I think she just wanted a name with family connections. Too bad she didn’t save it for a boy. I wonder if her future boy would have a feminine name? To each his own. At least she is happy with her little [name]Maxi[/name].

Unisex names can cross the borders, but [name]Maxwell[/name] isn’t even a unisex name. It is soooo not unisex. I don’t think this will become a trend, it’s just some stupid (sorry) Celeb who thought “well, what would be crazier than a girl named [name]Blue[/name] or a boy named [name]Pilot[/name]? [name]How[/name] could we make headlines with our baby?”. Definitely use it!

I have to defend JS. She used her fiance’s mom’s maiden name ([name]Maxwell[/name]) and her mom’s maiden name ([name]Drew[/name]). I know it isn’t traditional, but in the grad scope of celebrity names I think it’s really cute! I [name]DO[/name] prefer it on boys, but I mean come on - better than [name]Apple[/name] or Blanket, right?

It is better than Blanket. That is not saying a lot though.
