I voted before I read your piece stating you were leaning towards Italian or French, and voted Argentinian.

So to go with the Argentinian/Italian vein, I would suggest Catholic.

Saints Names:

When I read your post, the first thought that came to mind was that of an Eastern European Jewish woman that escapes from her native country after the Nazis invade (eg Poland). Her relationship with the upper class [name]East[/name] Coast man named [name]Montgomery[/name] would make for some interesting discussions between the two of them I think. I can see him being born in a WASP family in New [name]England[/name]. You didn’t have the Eastern European voting option so I thought I would make some easier-to-pronounce Polish names that would work equally well for someone with a Jewish cultural background. Good luck in your writing!

I LOVED your idea of a Jewish girl from Eastern Europe! I read your post, and I thought out some details, and got a really clear image in my head. I loved the suggestion of the name [name]Natalia[/name], and I thought that it was really pretty.
I thought that the FMC could be born in [name]Russia[/name] in 1920-1921, and in 1929-1932 emigrate to [name]Holland[/name]. Then between 1936-1938 she leaves [name]Holland[/name] for [name]America[/name]. There she meets the WASP-y, closed minded [name]Montgomery[/name].
I really did like your idea, as you can tell. And I also really liked [name]Natalia[/name] (I keep repeating myself).
I was thinking that she had a love interest in [name]Holland[/name] that she left behind, who later died in the Holocaust. I was hoping you and the other nameberries could help with that name as well, as long as maybe something for her 4 sisters, and baby brother?
Thank you for your marvelous ideas!
