Anyone with a little Hugo??//naming uncertainty

Does anyone have a little one named [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]? I love the name and we have tentatively settled on it for baby #3 due in [name_u]March[/name_u]. But I know of zero [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]'s in real life so it’s hard for me to picture a baby/kid named [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]! My second is [name_m]Julian[/name_m] and while it’s fairly popular throughout the US it’s not at all where I live (I have only came across 2 other ones in the last 2 years!) so I had the same issue before he was born. anyway I just have trouble picturing telling our family after he is born “his name is [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]!” Or introducing him as [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] to people. Anyone else have this issue? I don’t feel like it’s a deal breaker and if we love the name we will use it, who cares what others think, but just thought I’d ask!

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is a fine name. It’s not my personal style, but it fits in with the trends of older names coming back into fashion. You said you had the same issue with your other children? If so, would sharing with a close relative or friend help alleviate your fears?

I don’t want to share with family before baby is born because they are the ones who will hate the name initially! My mom recently told me that she didn’t like [name_m]Julian[/name_m]'s name at first. They just like the more common traditional names. I have shared with some friends who have positive feedback about [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. I think most of the issue is that many names in my area are either very traditional common names or trendy top 20 names and not many outliers!

Go for it. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is a fantastic name, and you can’t please everyone!

A great movie to watch is the kid’s movie “[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]” which is lovely story about a boy in [name_u]Paris[/name_u] named [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] Cabret.

I understand not wanting to share with family until the baby is here and named. My family gave me a lot of flack over my son’s name during my pregnancy, a few even routinely sent me messages with other name suggestions!

For the record, [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is lovely. While I don’t hear it often, I’ve know at least 3 Hugos. (One a couple of years younger than me, so he’d be 25 now, one who’s in 1st grade, and a recent baby of an old school friend!)

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is really cute. I don’t know any personally, but [name_f]Ginnifer[/name_f] Goodwin and [name_m]Josh[/name_m] [name_u]Dallas[/name_u] named their newest son [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and I think it’s adorable. Most of my names are names that my family/friends probably will think are unusual and most people in my community likely won’t have heard much. I just had to get to the point where I chose names my hubby and I liked, regardless of whether other people used it or liked it. If you like the name, go for it!

I’m having my third as well and earlier in the pregnancy I had a hard time picturing a little [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]; and come to think of it I had the same problem with my second as well. It was hard to imagine a small person with the names we chose because they are beautifully unique but also it can be hard to truly imagine a new child in your life even after you’ve already have one.

I love the name [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], I think it is strong, a little bit spunky, with lots of history.

I really like the name [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and the one I know is absolutely adorable with big brown eyes, soft brown hair and the cutest smile!

I adore the name [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], it has such an amazing sound and quality to it! Very cute and sweet for a little boy, but will still age very well for when he’s older.

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is a really sweet name. Sounds dashing too! I think it will age well. Might be rare but that’s just fine. Goes well with [name_m]Julian[/name_m]!

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is an adorable name. If you don’t absolutely love it though would [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] be of interest.

This might help you picture it on a kid.

I love it! I you love it, do your thing.

Both names are lovely and fantastic, but having a son named [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], I’m entitled to say it’s a wonderful name to give to your son. It’s well known but not common, literary, widely international, easy to spell and say and it suits him very well. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] ([name_m]Hugh[/name_m] or [name_m]Hughie[/name_m] for short sometimes) is the type of kid who is shy at first but once he gets to know you and is comfortable really shows his fun-loving and talkative side. He is a lover of books (right now the [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] series) and the outdoors. He can’t see water, earth and mud that he instantly wants to go and play. He’s an avid collector and “daddy” of roly-polies and ladybugs. I think [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] has always had a vintage and grown-man vibe, so for me it’s a name that is very easy to grow into. Good luck with naming your baby boy. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] or [name_m]Julian[/name_m] he will have a gorgeous, wonderful name.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] because [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] isn’t terribly popular doesn’t mean that it isn’t familiar, and it goes very well with your other son’s name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if your family dislikes it, I think they’ll warm up to it the way they did with [name_m]Julian[/name_m]'s name. It’s a really cool name, and if I were you, I’d go for it.

I don’t want a super popular name anyway but it does make it a little harder for me when I don’t know anyone else with the name! But yes this is the main reason we don’t tell our family beforehand, we know they may be surprised at our choice at first but warm up to it :). Thank you to all for all your reassurances!! I really appreciate it!
