Aoife or Caoimhe

S/O will almost definitely not let me get away with both Aoife and Caoimhe for a future daughter, and both names are a bit too similar for sisters anyways I feel like? So, now I’m wondering, if I had to pick one or the other, which one suits my style the best?

Here’s a peak at the rest of my girls list for reference!

thank you!

P.S. Sticking with the Irish theme, my favourite on your list is [name_f]Aisling[/name_f]!

I actually tried to reply to this an hour ago but it didn’t send!

I think think caoimhe is more æsthetically appealing.

[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] is my all-time favourite name

I don’t think they’re too close for sisters, but that might just be because there was an [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] in my class at school whose little sister was called [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]

Oh gosh, don’t make me pick, they’re both such gorgeous names!! Irish girl names are always just so beautiful (and they have the loveliest meanings!)

Both go fantastically with your list, they fit in perfectly! Because of this, I think I have to go with [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] since I personally prefer it slightly. Also I know spelling/pronunciation confustion probably would be something you’re prepared for since you’re going with an Irish name, but I know an [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and she hates that almost everyone thinks her name is [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] when she introduces herself. So since [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] doesn’t have a name that sounds so much like it to add on to the confustion, it gets a bit of a bonus point in my books

They’re both lovely though! (And I love your list in general!)

Both Irish names! Are you living in [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]? Because if you are I’d say go for [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f], [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is a bit overused here.I personally prefer [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] too.(it can also be pronounced kwee- va if you prefer)
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] is what I picked. But I think [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] would be easier in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] to wear.

Thank you! I think it’s S/O’s pick too - he actually suggested Aisling!

Oooh that’s good to know!

Thank you! I live in Canada, so fully prepared for the confusion, but I have known girls named Niamh, Maebh, Aoife and Sorcha here who wore their names super well! Even common names like mine (Haley) have to be spelled out all the time, so I’m pretty sure it’s just inevitable where I am now  But that’s a really good point about Aoife/Eva/Ava!

I’m not, I’m afraid! I live in Canada but have loved both names for about 10 years  I had a friend in Ireland as a teenager named Caoimhe and just fell in love with the name! As for Aoife, I saw it in a birth announcement eons ago (Una Healy from The Saturdays’ Aoife Belle!) and again, loved it!

Ooh, quite like the kwee-va pronunciation too! Thank you!

That is one thing I was wondering, as well  Thank you!

I think [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] has a more airy feel, which (imo) goes better with the rest of your list! But they’re both great
