Apelone

Current new obsession. [name_u]Love[/name_u] this nn [name_f]Apple[/name_f]. How would you instinctively pronounce? Thoughts? There’s also [name_f]Abelone[/name_f] but I think is too close to Abalone (snail).

[name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct was to say APP-uh-LOAN, but after looking my second guess was APP-uh-lone-ee (like abalone, and for the record, I think of the lovely shiny shells rather than the snails!!)

I can’t really see myself getting past the “ape” in the first part, maybe the spelling Apalone would be better?

Other names you may like are [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] / Appaloosa !!

Your first guess was right, I think. Apple-own.

And, you were right on with [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] because it’s a variant of that. [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] is a bit too much for me though I think cool for someone else

First Instinct: App-ih-low-neigh

[name_f]My[/name_f] instinctive pronunciation is “app-uh-loan-ee,” like abalone. Because of the association with abalone, I don’t personally enjoy the name, but it would be a great candidate for a full name for [name_f]Apple[/name_f]!

I said Abalone with a p on first glance :woman_facepalming:t2:

I would think it’s App-eh-LO-nee. But I suspect most would think “Apple-own”.

I don’t especially like it though and think could attract “lone ape”, “load of baloney” type comments (the second only if it is “Lo-nee” ending). Prefer [name_f]Appoline[/name_f], [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f], [name_f]Apolline[/name_f], [name_f]Pomona[/name_f], [name_f]Pomeline[/name_f], or other routes to nn [name_f]Apple[/name_f].

Hmm. I think I prefer [name_f]Apple[/name_f] nn Apelone / Apploni! Apelone (which I’d pronounce app-uh-LOH-nee instinctively) feels very abalone shell and not very name—to me.

Ap-ul-own would be my guess

[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was abalone, I don’t think I could see past that. I would think Ah-peh-LOH-nee on first guess.
