Araceli?

With six weeks to go before my due date, we thought we had our two ‘definite names’ to take to the hospital with us - [name]Margot[/name] and [name]Elowen[/name]. However, at work yesterday, the name [name]Araceli[/name] popped into my head…and I loved it. It’s never even been on the radar, but the more I think about it, the more I like it, and the more I think about what a perfect name it would be for this little girl. I haven’t run it by OH yet because I wanted to know if I’m possibly going a little bit crazy…or would it actually work? Is it usable? Does it ‘go’ well enough with [name]Cassia[/name]? Or should I just stick with our original two?

Thank you!!

Let me start off by saying that I think [name]Cassia[/name] [name]Faye[/name] is GORGEOUS! My favorite of your names to go along with [name]Cassia[/name] is [name]Elowen[/name]. [name]Araceli[/name] is cute and spunky, but to me, it just doesn’t equal [name]Elowen[/name]'s beauty.

I had a student named [name]Araceli[/name] last year, and she was a great kid. It’s a very pretty name and I like it a lot. It’s almost exclusively used by Hispanic families in the US, so if you live here and you aren’t Hispanic, some people might be weird about it. Regardless, I think [name]Araceli[/name] is is wonderful choice, and I think it works well with [name]Cassia[/name]. I don’t think it’s any better than [name]Margot[/name] or [name]Elowen[/name], but I certainly don’t think it’s any worse, either.

I agree with egilona that to me it feels exclusively Hispanic–like [name]Jorge[/name] or something.
It is a pretty name and I know a lovely woman how bears it, but I don’t think it’s a match for [name]Cassia[/name].
I think [name]Margot[/name] is gorgeous!

I much prefer [name]Margot[/name] and [name]Elowen[/name].

I love [name]Cassia[/name] btw.

Since I am Hispanic, I’m going to throw a vote in for [name]Araceli[/name]. [name]Ah[/name]-rah-seh-lee It is beautiful. I don’t see it as exclusively Hispanic, it is, however, used mostly by Hispanics so it is something to keep in mind.

I love [name]Araceli[/name]. It’s not very widely used in the US, but strikes me as very accessible, easy to pronounce, and just plain lovely. I taught a little [name]Araceli[/name] a few years back and she was a doll, so maybe I’m biased.
