Archer a cool way to get to Archie or ...

Is [name_m]Archer[/name_m] a cool way to get to nicknames [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_m]Arch[/name_m] or is it a little pretentious and a name that says you are trying too hard? [name_m]Will[/name_m] it age well or be dated within a few years?

I really love [name_m]Archer[/name_m] nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m] & tried to convince hubby to like it to for our son, but he wouldn’t get on board.

It’s a great name

I don’t love the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m] but I’m the kind of name nerd who prefers [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] isn’t bad, it’s just nms. Someone just posted a thread in [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names where she said she noticed a rise in -er names and -ley names.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t care for [name_m]Archie[/name_m], but it’s a cool way to get there, if you must. One of my students was nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and his full name was Archangel. See… [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a better route to [name_m]Archie[/name_m]! :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a perfect name to get to [name_m]Archie[/name_m].

I love [name_m]Archer[/name_m], hate [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. I don’t think it sounds pretentious at all-the only [name_m]Archer[/name_m] I have met was the cutest, spunkiest little guy.

Since I dislike the nn so much, I could only use this as a middle.

Hmm, I’m not sure how well it would age, but consider it in the surname category. If you think names like [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_u]Carter[/name_u] will age well, compare [name_m]Archer[/name_m] to them.

I quite like it. I would think nothing evil of parents’ who chose [name_m]Archer[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m].”

I think [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is a very handsome name. I think it will age perfectly well. I think [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_m]Arch[/name_m] are wonderful nicknames for [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. I most likely would not use a nickname, never have with my son. I have [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Finley[/name_u] on my short list.

I’m going to have to go against the popular opinion here and say that I think [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is indeed one of the those names that will be dated and limited to a certain generation. That and [name_m]Asher[/name_m]. It’s a TV show too and not the most inspiring character. The only parents I’ve known to choose [name_m]Archer[/name_m] are the definition of trendster/hipsters.

I think [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is ready for a comeback, but not from [name_m]Archer[/name_m].

Mixed reactions to my sons name [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. Some people seem confused by it, for some reason. I think it will grow thoufh, my hubby just came back from the park and said there was another boy named [name_m]Archer[/name_m] there, about five years old. Also just saw an [name_m]Archer[/name_m] on yo gabba gabba.

It isn’t pretentious. I actually think this name is going to get popular in the next few years. I don’t think it’s ‘out there’ at all. [name_m]Arrow[/name_m] would be unusual. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is not.

Yeah it’s definitely trendy and ‘of its time’, and I think it will date quite noticeably. But not in a bad way, if you don’t mind that sort of thing. It’s a decent name, I definitely wouldn’t describe it as pretentious.

Personally I can’t get over the TV programme, and as PP noted [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is not an admirable character (though very funny), but that programme is also very much of its time. It’s more of a cult programme as it is, and it’s not going to get more popular I don’t think. So unless you’re an [name_m]Archer[/name_m] fan, there’s no reason to bother about that.

I love the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. With all of the archery shows and movies coming out, I can see how its becoming more popular…however I still think its a great name. A lot better than some of the boys names I have heard lol. Its a name on our list of possibilities, if it doesn’t become TOO popular.
