Archibald

We’ve been thinking about using [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] as a middle name, but I love the nickname [name_m]Archie[/name_m] so much that I’m starting to consider it as a first name… But is [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] too much? Is it even usable? What do you think?
Also, can you suggest any other names like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], preferably with a nice nickname?

[name_m]Archibald[/name_m] is a bit much for me personally. That said, I would use [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] in a heartbeat if I didn’t hate nn [name_m]Bart[/name_m], and that’s just as long and fusty as [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]. If you love the name, go for it! You’re lucky it has such a usable nickname.

Other options with similar sounding nicknames:
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] nn [name_m]Artie[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] nn [name_u]Alfie[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u] nn [name_m]Augie[/name_m]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] nn Aubie
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] nn [name_u]Arlie[/name_u]
[name_m]Algernon[/name_m] (!) nn [name_m]Algie[/name_m]

I much prefer [name_m]Archer[/name_m].

Far too fusty for a modern boy.

I just can’t get on board with [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], but I fully support using [name_m]Archie[/name_m] as a first name on it’s own or [name_m]Archer[/name_m] nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m].

I can’t get past the fact that it has “bald” in it

I love [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] ” Classy, strong, offbeat (in a good way), magical (makes me think of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] or a British [name_m]Lord[/name_m]).

It might be my son’s middle name!

I love it, but I don’t know if I would be brave enough to use it.

I don’t like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] but [name_m]Archie[/name_m] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] are cute!!

I just adore [name_m]Archie[/name_m], but I don’t know that I could ever use [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]. I want to love it, but the “bald” puts me off.

I love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and can him [name_m]Archie[/name_m] or [name_m]Art[/name_m].

I think there’s something adorable about [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] precisely because it’s clunky and so unstylish, but it’s one of those eccentric names that look better on, say, a fictional character than a real boy.

I like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] and considered it as a middle name for this baby! But my SO turned it down.
