I like old-fashioned names more … almost on the edge of “geezer”. LOL! Chances are if your great-grandma had the name, I’m all over it.
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] (front-runner), [name]Clara[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Chloe[/name] are my top picks for a girls. And [name]Elias[/name] (front-runner), [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] for boys. My DS is [name]Charles[/name]/nn [name]Charlie[/name].
The only two modern-sounding names that I really like are [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Reed[/name], but I think both would fit fine with [name]Charlie[/name].
[name]Arden[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name] is the name I’m specifically into … but I worry it’s too masculine and too much like the popular [name]Aiden[/name] names.
I’m a classic name lover, too (not uncommon on Nameberry), and love your names (with the exception of [name]Arden[/name]). (I like [name]Arden[/name] and see its appeal, but the other names are just more my style.)
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name] it!
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Jane[/name]: I think this is so sweet, but I personally love [name]Lydia[/name] more than [name]Clara[/name]. (I think [name]Clara[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is lovely, too.)
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Chloe[/name]: I’m not an [name]Evelyn[/name] fan, but I love the [name]Evie[/name] nickname. [name]Chloe[/name] is very popular now (top 10), so if popularity is a concern, I’d skip [name]Chloe[/name].
I really love [name]Elias[/name], [name]Leo[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name], too. If popularity is a concern for you, I’d go with [name]Leo[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name], too. If you type a name into the box at the left, you can see its popularity ranking.
I’d personally avoid [name]Arden[/name], not only because it’s not my style, but because with [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name] is a lot of “Arrrr” sound!
[name]Jill[/name] - thanks! I know, I love all those names on your list, too. I don’t know what’s up with [name]Arden[/name], it doesn’t fit with my normal tastes AT ALL. So I blame hormones.
I think [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Elias[/name] are my winners.
If you’re looking for something with the same appeal as [name]Arden[/name], what about [name]Ardith[/name]? Kind of ups the “geezer” factor as well, since it’s been out of the trend cycle for a good few generations. It reminds me of a cross between [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Edith[/name].
I’m exactly the same as you. I am a classic name lover to the extreme, [name]Evelyn[/name] is my second favourite girls name! But I too love [name]Arden[/name]! I can’t explain it but it really appeals to me for some reason. I doubt I’d ever use it though because it is so deviant from my usual style.
I had to laugh at your comment: “Chances are if your great grandma had the name, I’m all over it.” Cute! Does the name [name]Alma[/name] qualify?
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] – I love both these names! Nice flow too!
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Jane[/name] – ditto
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Chloe[/name] – I am more into [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Eva[/name] than [name]Evelyn[/name] and not the biggest fan of [name]Chloe[/name], but the combination sounds very nice!
[name]Arden[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name] – Not a big fan of [name]Arden[/name], but [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]. Again, you picked names that flow well together.
It’s a tie between [name]Clara[/name] [name]Jane[/name] & [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], imo.
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] - I really like [name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - fine
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Chloe[/name] - I don’t like [name]Chloe[/name] but I really like [name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Elias[/name] - nice
[name]Leo[/name] - I freakin’ love this one! It’s one of my favorites ever!
[name]Oliver[/name] - nice
[name]Reed[/name] - I really like it
And I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Arden[/name]. I don’t think it sounds like [name]Aidan[/name] at all and I think [name]Arden[/name] and [name]Charles[/name] is a really nice combo.
Good luck!
