So I have been noticing [name_u]Arden[/name_u] a lot lately, and it turned into a bit of a crush… and now it has turned into a love affair… What is the general consensus on [name_u]Arden[/name_u]? Cute? Sweet? Spunky?
I always think of it as feminine, but I have noticed in a few places that it is listed as masculine… is it more one than the other?? Or generally unisex?
Anyway, I was having a muse over combinations… and I feel like it would either work with something simple and classic (e.g. [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]), or something a bit more extravagant (e.g. [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f])… I am leaning more to the extravagant side, mostly because I like interesting names, but what do y’all think?? MN ideas??
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] is strong and beautiful. Always I think of glamorous [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] when I hear it. it strikes me as sophisticated because there are no nicknames.
I can see why [name_u]Arden[/name_u] has turned your head.
I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u]. I thought about using it bc I grew up on an [name_u]Arden[/name_u] Drive as a kid. But my DH didn’t like it. I think it’s a strong name rather than feminine, so I like it paired with a girly middle name ([name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], etc).
I think [name_u]Arden[/name_u] is one of the few genuinely unisex names: it started as a place-name, and has been used for both boys and girls since the early 20th century. I do think it’s tilting slightly more female now. I really like it a lot - I associate with my favorite [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] play, As You Like It - it’s the name of the forest in it, which [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] liked because of the way it amalgamates [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u], two mythical paradisal forests! It sounds sprightly to me.
I really like [name_u]Arden[/name_u]. I think I see it as feminine as I associate it with [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_u]Arden[/name_u] but I think it’s one that could easily go either way and isn’t too tied to one gender. I agree that a longer more feminine middle goes well with it, I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
