What do you all think of the name Ardythe/[name]Ardyth[/name]/[name]Ardith[/name]? I quite like it (it’s my #1 girls’ name, actually), but a lot of my friends think it sounds “dated” or “middle-aged” (in context to age, not the time period).
Since this website seems filled to the brink with people representing the upper echelon of name-picking sophistication, I’m interested to hear your opinions on the name!
I do like it. It’s got that [name]Judith[/name] and [name]Astrid[/name] feel all in one. It also reminds me of a new-age [name]Meredith[/name]. People that think it sounds dated are crazy! I have never heard that name in my life. Unless they mean it sounds similar to other “dated” names, where I think they fail by default because [name]Judith[/name] and [name]Meredith[/name] is ripe for a comeback, in my opinion.
Overall I would have to say that I really do like Ardythe. I think that is also the best spelling choice.
I like [name]Ardith[/name] quite a lot. Not fond of the other spellings. It seems to follow the old lady name trend without being the name of 10 of your grandmothers friends. It feels very elegant to me. I like nn [name]Ari[/name] and [name]Addie[/name]
It does seem middle-aged, in both a person’s age, and time period!
I think it’s workable, but it feels like someone with a lisp mispronouncing another name to me. Not one of my picks at all, but not atrocious or anything. I think it can work, with a lot of people wondering “Whaaat?” and where it came from, but it fits with your style. 
I don’t think it sounds middle aged but it does sound a little like someone with a lisp saying “artist” which is a tad strange.
I like the simplest spelling, [name]Ardith[/name], best. Ardythe looks sort of Ye Olde Apothecarie Shoppe to me, if you know what i mean. Personally, it feels middle-aged in the sense of medieval to me, but that’s a plus in my book!
I like it. It feels masculine to me, same as [name]Arden[/name] (and before the opposition comes running in, I like [name]Arden[/name] for a girl or boy)
[name]Ardeth[/name] [name]Bay[/name] is a male character from The Mummy
Honestly when I first read the name, I thought of “artist” with a lisp as well. :S
