Are ANY of these names wearable?

I think I like overly cutesy names…are any of these not downright abusive to name a child?? I would use more formal names on bc for most, so if you have any suggestions of what the longer form names could be or what ones are most usable I would appreciate it!!

[name]Lucky[/name]
[name]Honey[/name]
[name]Kitty[/name]
[name]Babe[/name]
[name]Sally[/name]
[name]Frankie[/name]
Kippie
[name]Love[/name]
[name]Oona[/name]
[name]Lou[/name]

[name]Sally[/name] is nice. [name]Lou[/name] would be a nice nickname for [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name]. [name]Oona[/name] is a legitimate name, no nn needed.

To be honest, the only ones I consider to be cutesy are [name]Honey[/name] and [name]Kitty[/name].

I think [name]Frankie[/name] is adorable and [name]Francesca[/name] or [name]Frances[/name] could be the longer formal names.

[name]One[/name] of the sisters in pride and prejudice was nn’d [name]Kitty[/name]. I can see these all being awesome nicknames! [name]Love[/name] kitty as a nn but love [name]Sally[/name] and [name]Frankie[/name] as fn. I think depending on your family i think they could work.

[name]Lucky[/name]- Could see as a nickname for a child up to 10 years old, and then as a pet name for family/friends after. I actually think it’s kind of cute, but I’d be a bit superstitious about it, personally. Could really be a nickname for any little girl, but especially for [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Luciana[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Lucetta[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name]…

[name]Honey[/name]- Eek. [name]Just[/name] seems like a term of endearment to me, like “[name]Doll[/name]” or “[name]Baby[/name]”.

[name]Kitty[/name]- Definitely wearable, it’s used often. I don’t really like it, but it can be used as nickname for [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name] and any diminutive of those names, like [name]Katerina[/name], [name]Katia[/name], etc.

[name]Babe[/name]- Again, a term of endearment. You and your husband can call your daughter this all the time, but other people won’t feel comfortable with it. It’s strange, to me.

[name]Sally[/name]- Wearable, for sure, and often used a given name. Again, I don’t really like it, but that’s just my taste, and it could definitely be used. It’s used as nickname for [name]Sarah[/name], so that’s what I’d go with.

[name]Frankie[/name]- I really like this! I imagine a beautiful, spunky young woman. Cute on a little girl, appropriate on an adult. Definitely one of my favorites on your list. Could use [name]Frances[/name], but I would use [name]Francesca[/name]. It’s prettier and more modern.

Kippie- To be honest, I’ve never heard this before. It sounds like a dog’s name? I think this one is the least wearable.

[name]Love[/name]- I think it’s nice as a middle. Maybe, like [name]Frances[/name] [name]Love[/name] _____ or [name]Francesca[/name] [name]Love[/name] _____. Could it be used as an everyday nickname? I don’t really think so, no. Too term of endearment-y for me, again.

[name]Oona[/name]- This is a nice name! Extremely wearable. You could put it on the birth certificate, for sure. I think it’s delicate and pretty. A really great choice.

[name]Lou[/name]- Wearable, definitely. [name]Heidi[/name] Klum just named her daughter [name]Lou[/name], which I don’t really like on it’s own. [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] would be best to me as a full name, with [name]Lou[/name] as her nickname.

I love [name]Honey[/name] the most.

I know a [name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kitty[/name] in her 60s. Not cutesy at all and very wearable. I love [name]Oona[/name] too.

[name]Lucky[/name]–[name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Honey[/name]–[name]Honora[/name] or [name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Kitty[/name]–[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Babe[/name]–[name]Babette[/name] or [name]Barbara[/name]
[name]Sally[/name]–[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Frankie[/name]–[name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Love[/name]–[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Oona[/name]–[name]Finola[/name]
[name]Lou[/name]–[name]Louisa[/name]

I like [name]Oona[/name] just fine and it is a legitimate name on its own. I have a friend whose middle name is [name]Love[/name]. Her mothers middle name is [name]Love[/name] and so forth. It’s a family name and her daugters middle name is [name]Love[/name] too.

I also have a friend who goes by [name]Kitty[/name], but her real name is [name]Antoinette[/name]. I like [name]Kitty[/name] as a nickname for something classic like [name]Katherine[/name].

Other wise, i can’t see any of those actually working as first names. I love the pp suggestion for full names to use those as nicknames.

I adore [name]Oona[/name] on its own and don’t think it needs a longer form!

I know a little girl called [name]Honey[/name], just [name]Honey[/name]. Its a bit too much for me but not unheard of here in the UK so I think its wearable. Personally I think [name]Honey[/name] could be a nickname for any little girl with any name, but maybe particularly appropriate for a [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Honour[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] or [name]Harper[/name]?

[name]Kitty[/name] by itself is popular here too. I love it, but prefer it as a nickname. I think any “[name]Cat[/name]” name can work; [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Catalina[/name], [name]Katya[/name], [name]Katharina[/name], [name]Caitlin[/name], [name]Catriona[/name], [name]Catrin[/name], [name]Cathleen[/name] etc.

I love [name]Frankie[/name] and [name]Lou[/name] as nicknames for [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Frances[/name] and [name]Francine[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Louise[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Talullah[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Luciana[/name]. [name]Lucky[/name] could maybe work for [name]Lucy[/name] names too? [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Luciana[/name], [name]Lucina[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Lucille[/name]?

I met a little brother and sister recently called [name]Alfred[/name] and [name]Sally[/name]. [name]Sally[/name] is a little dated but sweet and can work on its own, or maybe as a nn for [name]Sarah[/name]?

I quite like Kippie but I don’t know what it could be short for, and unfortunately it also reminds me a little of [name]Kipper[/name].

The only ones I think aren’t wearable are [name]Love[/name] and [name]Babe[/name]. They’re what a lot of people call each other here, e.g. “Alright love/babe? [name]How[/name] r u?” Haha. So I really can’t see them as someones name.

[name]Sally[/name] is a first name to me. It’s NMS but I knew a [name]Sally[/name] growing up and never thought anything of it.

I like [name]Lou[/name] and [name]Frankie[/name] as nns for [name]Louise[/name] and [name]Francesca[/name].

The rest are way too cutesy or nns that aren’t my style at all (well, [name]Oona[/name] is legit but totally NMS as a name).

lol, [name]Honey[/name] is a guilty pleasure name of mine. Blame it on [name]Matilda[/name] (Miss [name]Honey[/name].)

I knew a woman on another board with a daughter named [name]Kitty[/name] [name]Lucille[/name].

I like [name]Kitty[/name] (or even just [name]Kit[/name]) as a nn for [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name], and I think [name]Lou[/name] is definitely usable–either as a nn for [name]Lucy[/name]/[name]Luella[/name]/[name]Louisa[/name]/[name]Luciana[/name]/[name]Lucia[/name]/etc. [name]Sally[/name] is too dated for me, but I think it could work on its own, or as a nn for [name]Sarah[/name]. I like the idea of [name]Love[/name] as a nn–my sister loves the idea of using [name]Olivia[/name] nn Luvy/[name]Luv[/name]/[name]Love[/name]. I think it could also be a nn for something like [name]Lovisa[/name]…

I grew up with a girl named [name]Lovey[/name] (that was her full first name), and I never saw/heard her have problems with her name!

Also, I see the appeal of [name]Lucky[/name]…I adore the name [name]Lux[/name] (pronounced ‘Lucks’)!

I think [name]Honey[/name], [name]Sally[/name], [name]Oona[/name] or even [name]Love[/name] are usable as stand alone names. The rest are cute as nns but maybe a bit hard to carry off as full name. Full name suggestions:

[name]Lucky[/name]=[name]Lucasta[/name]
[name]Kitty[/name]=[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Babe[/name]=[name]Barbara[/name]
[name]Frankie[/name]=[name]Francesca[/name]

Only [name]Sally[/name], [name]Frankie[/name], [name]Lou[/name], [name]Oona[/name].

The rest are not substantial names imo.

I know a [name]Frankie[/name] and a [name]Sally[/name] [name]IRL[/name], so I guess they are wearable. I like [name]Kitty[/name] and [name]Honey[/name]- more as nns though.

emiliaj

[name]Frankie[/name] and [name]Lou[/name], yes. They rest are a bit much imo.

From this list my preference would be [name]Sally[/name] ([name]Sarah[/name]), [name]Frankie[/name] ([name]Frances[/name]), [name]Lou[/name] ([name]Louise[/name]). I think these are all nice names.

I think [name]Honey[/name], [name]Love[/name] and [name]Babe[/name] could all be just your nickname for bub no matter what name but I wouldn’t expect others to use them. They feel like endearments to me rather than names. (I call my oldest son ‘[name]Bunny[/name]’ and have since he was born but NEVER in the presence of non-family and NEVER out of our house on his strict instructions, he loved it when he was little though).
