Are Any Of These "Teen Mom" or "Toddlers and Tiaras" Worthy Names?

These are some names I’m currently loving and considering, however, I don’t want them to be Teen Mom or Toddlers and Tiaras worthy, as I’m fairly young, and do not want that to be reflected in my child’s name. I am fully aware some are nickname-y or the names of cold medicine, but the meanings and historical values outweigh that. Please, only state if they are something you could imagine on a list of horrible names (think Alycesaundra, [name]Genesis[/name], [name]Giavanna[/name], Sparkal, etc) Thanks!

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name]
[name]Deanna[/name]
[name]Dulcie[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Elouise[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]India[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name]
[name]Kennedy[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Lara[/name]
[name]Liberty[/name]
[name]Lila[/name] (lee-la)
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Lyla[/name]
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name]
[name]Mollie[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Verity[/name]

None of these remind me of “Teen Mom” names or anything. [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Liberty[/name] come close, but I think they’re cute and totally usable.

thank you  [name]Liberty[/name] would probably be nicknamed [name]Libby[/name], but not too sure on that yet! I personally didn’t think anywhere, but my soon to be mother in law questioned quite a few!

The only one that seems Teen Mommy to me is [name]Kennedy[/name] - I will say that some seem a little bit dated: [name]Clarissa[/name], [name]Deanna[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name] specifically.

dated names don’t bother my fiance + I one bit, we’re actually trying to go for ones that we don’t hear in our neighbourhood or at work (we both work with children, and his youngest sisters are 8 years old, so we ask them quite a bit about kids in school!)

I think your list is absolutely divine. Many of these are my favorites!

That said, the only ones that I could see with “Teen Mom” connections are [name]Lacey[/name] and [name]Liberty[/name], and [name]Kennedy[/name] but only with a tryndie spelling like [name]Kynnedi[/name]. [name]Deanna[/name] is borderline if it is pronounced [name]Dee[/name]-ah-na, but [name]Dean[/name]-a definitely does not have a “Teen Mom” feel.

I think it’s a lovely list overall.

I agree with mge28. These names are Teen Mom or Toddlers and Tiaras.

The ones in bold are the ones that lean in that direction to me:

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name](Reminds me of [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Brittany[/name], [name]Courtney[/name]… But the image of [name]Audrey[/name] Hepburn makes it classier than that.)
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name]
[name]Deanna[/name]([name]Don[/name]'t know what to make of this. [name]How[/name] do you pronounce it?)
[name]Dulcie[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Elouise[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name](Reminds me of a pageant girl that I knew named Ferry.)
[name]Florence[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]India[/name]
[name]Jemima[/name]
[name]Kennedy[/name] (Feels like a fresher [name]Courtney[/name], again, a high school cheerleader name to me.)
[name]Lacey[/name] (Same as [name]Kennedy[/name])
[name]Lara[/name]
[name]Liberty[/name](Same as [name]Kennedy[/name]. Names ending in Y feel trendier to me.)
[name]Lila[/name] (lee-la)
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Lyla[/name](Popular a ending and short name that starts with L feels very “young to me”. The y doesn’t help.)
[name]Martha[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name]
[name]Mollie[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name](Kind of like [name]Morgan[/name]. An uni-sex name. Feels a little bit dated.)
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Sienna[/name](Feels very sweet and girly. I could imagine a little [name]Tiara[/name] Toddler with this name.)
[name]Stella[/name](Same as [name]Sienna[/name].)
[name]Verity[/name]

[name]Deanna[/name] would be dee-ah-na or dee-anna, like the famous Canadian actress, [name]Deanna[/name] Durbin  Thank you!

[name]Deanna[/name] is dee-ah-nah or dee-anna, it’s after a Canadian 1940’s+1950’s film actress

I think you’re int he clear. Something being contemporary/popular doesn’t automatically make it trashy or pathetic - [name]Kennedy[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], or [name]Sienna[/name] are at the modern-est fringe, and they’re all totally reasonable.

You mentioned your [name]MIL[/name] giving you opinions. For your own sake, [name]DO[/name] NOT TELL HER ANYTHING [name]ELSE[/name] ABOUT YOUR NAMING DECISION PROCESS! Keep it between yourself and DH and anonymous strangers on the net!

well, my fiance has 4 younger sisters 8-14, so I often ask them about names they hear at school a lot, to see what’s currently popular (which, yes, names like [name]Emma[/name], [name]Leah[/name], and [name]Claire[/name] are pretty, but they’re also as common as [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Emily[/name] once were), and his mother wanted to help, so I allowed her, for the most part, she was a great help, but she’s more old-fashioned I think. His sisters all have classic names.

[name]Allegra[/name] - This is a beautiful name with a ton of history but I, especially if you are in the US, I find it ill-advised as one of the main association most people would have be the allergy medication. Naming you child after medication feels a bit “Teen Mom” to me.
[name]Deanna[/name] - what’s wrong with [name]Dean[/name] (for a boy) or [name]Diana[/name] (for a girl)? [name]Deanna[/name] feels a bit boarder line to me - like you wanted to name a child after a [name]Dean[/name] but couldn’t figure out the proper feminization.
[name]Dulcie[/name] - I think many people will think you made this up and therefore would consider it "Teen Mom"ish.
[name]Fallon[/name] - this is actually to masculine for my liking.

[name]Deanna[/name]'s after a famous Canadian actress ([name]Dee[/name]-anna) and [name]Dulcie[/name] is actually a historic name, and, we do not live in the US, so the medication’s not a problem, considering it does not exist where we live

For what it’s worth from another anony stranger on the web, none of those names sounded bad-reality-TV to me. I only think that with [name]Elouise[/name] people might default spell it [name]Eloise[/name], since the latter is the more common form.

The only one I don’t like is “[name]Dulcie[/name]” because of the “DULL” part. I’m not sure if thats even the way its pronounced, but its what I immediately see. I also don’t like [name]Kennedy[/name] because I generally don’t like boys names on girls. But none of them really scream “Teen Mom” to me.

[name]Dulcie[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Kennedy[/name]
[name]Liberty[/name]
[name]Lila[/name] (lee-la) (I don’t like this prn., I prefer lie-la)

None of these are horrific, but a few of these lean trendy/will-be-dated-someday to me:

[name]Kennedy[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Lyla[/name]
[name]Liberty[/name]
[name]Sienna[/name]

These I just really don’t like, but they feel more like mid-80s to mid-90s names than current trends:
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Deanna[/name]

Some other random & blunt opinions:
Vastly prefer the [name]Eloise[/name] spelling to [name]Elouise[/name].
Really object to use of [name]India[/name] unless you have a very good reason. Bad colonization/imperialism connections.
Same to [name]Jemima[/name]. If you’re not in the US, keep in mind that if your kid ever goes there, this name has some baggage attached to it.
[name]Dulcie[/name] I really don’t like, not sure why.

Otherwise, most of your names seem classic and lovely too me. Sorry for all the negativity!

Laceyand Kennedyare the only ones that remind me personally of the Toddlers and Tiaras/Teen Mom feel.
Audreyis probably my favourite on that list though, I think it is a darling name!

Keepers:
[name]Alice[/name] - [name]Love[/name] love love. Classic, literary, and beautiful.
[name]Audrey[/name] - Is getting more popular, but still a strong and beutiful name with great connections.
[name]Beatrice[/name] - Not my style, but a nice, classic, strong choice.
[name]Clara[/name] - Simple and pretty.
[name]Clarissa[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name] - recognizable without being common.
[name]Eloise[/name] - Another that isn’t my style, but definitely a good name.
[name]Florence[/name] - Ditto the above.
[name]Francesca[/name] - Has an oppulent, rich feel.
[name]Georgina[/name] - Reminds me of [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name], the Brontes, etc. (that era). [name]Georgiana[/name] is smiliar and equally as lovely.
[name]Harriet[/name] - Strong, classic.
[name]Lila[/name] (lee-la) I would pronounce Lie-lah, but either way it is nice without feeling to overused or trendy.
[name]Lily[/name] - A bit popular, but still very nice.
[name]Martha[/name] - Another classic.
[name]Matilda[/name] - Classic and literary! Who wouldn’t love reading [name]Matilda[/name] to their very own [name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name] - Very pretty.
[name]Poppy[/name] - Maybe a little sweet for an adult, but so sute on a little one! Maybe use it as a nickname for a more versatile name?
[name]Rowan[/name] - [name]One[/name] of my favorite unisex names that I generally like for the girls side (my other top is [name]Avery[/name]).
[name]Stella[/name] - I just love [name]Stella[/name]. And [name]Estelle[/name]. They are just such happy sounding names.
[name]Verity[/name] - [name]Love[/name] love love this!

Meh:
[name]Allegra[/name] - Still always think of the meds or that weird [name]Allegra[/name]'s Window tv show…
[name]Deanna[/name] - I’m torn between feeling like this is a dated sounding name versus feeling like it is a trendy/made-up sounding name…
[name]Dulcie[/name] - Too sweet. Maybe as a nickname.
[name]Elouise[/name] - This spelling seems over the top, [name]Eloise[/name] is much nicer.
[name]Fallon[/name] - Trendy sounding. Also a little boy-ish to me (and I swear I am not a hater of unisex names like some are, I just see this as more a boys name than unisex.)
[name]India[/name] - Another trendy one, but not as bad as some. I think you could get away with this one, especially since it has celeb cred (with celebs who aren’t nutso)
[name]Jemima[/name] - I know this is growing in popularity, but I cannot not think of Aunt [name]Jemima[/name].
[name]Kennedy[/name] - Maybe this is because I live in the Northeast US where the Kennedys are still treated like they poo gold nuggets, but I really can’t stand this one.
[name]Lacey[/name] - Very 1980s. Not sure it is ready for a comeback, though I don’t think [name]Lacey[/name] is bad, persay.
[name]Lara[/name] - Not terrible, but not particularly inspiring either.
[name]Liberty[/name] - Ugh.
[name]Lyla[/name] - I’m not a huge fan of Ys where they don’t need to be. Much prefer [name]Lila[/name] for the spelling, though I see you would pronounce that differently…
[name]Mollie[/name] - I don’t dislike [name]Molly[/name], but the ie makes it too sticky sweet.
[name]Morgan[/name] - I’ve heard this one too much.
[name]Sienna[/name] - Another that feels a bit trendy to me.

Names I Would Promptly Remove From Your List

  • [name]Allegra[/name]
  • [name]Fallon[/name]
  • [name]India[/name]
  • [name]Liberty[/name]
  • [name]Poppy[/name]
  • [name]Rowan[/name]

(Most of these ones just seem trendy/tacky to me, which is something Teen Moms are infamous for. So.)
