[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I have a few names that I’ve been thinking about lately, and I’d love your feedback if you don’t mind.

Is either [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] usable? [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a no for me, as a close friend used a similar name but I’d like to include the meaning of light light somewhere in a future daughter’s name. Thinking more about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], I love that name. I like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] as a nickname, and could use that instead of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. Then I may be torn between [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. There’s always [name_f]Molly[/name_f] to use as a double honor name if I don’t use [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Elena[/name_f]. Which would you choose?

[name_f]My[/name_f] family is primarily Irish-American, and I am not directly descended from [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]. I would like at least one child to have an [name_u]Irish[/name_u] name. I have found it hard to find meaningful and accessible (easy to pronounce and spell) [name_u]Irish[/name_u] girls’ names. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f], which I am hesitant to use for that reason, but mostly because I’ve heard that many people in [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] feel that Americans appropriate the name, [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_u]Riley[/name_u], and [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. I’ve recently started liking [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is very sweet. Although I’m not sure it’s on par with my love for [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] quite yet! [name_f]My[/name_f] hesitations with it are that it is very celebrity and that it would probably be awkward for her to introduce herself as [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] if she ever visited.
-
What do you think of the name [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]? I like [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] more, but am unable to use it because it is a very close friend’s name!
-
What are your thoughts on the name [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]? I’m loving it right now. The popularity doesn’t bother me because I don’t know any. I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (one of my absolute top names) and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would make a pretty amazing sibling set!
-
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] for a little girl? [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite has always been [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], but I’m wondering if [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is more versatile? Is [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] too harsh?
I’m sorry for all the random questions! Any feedback you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

@smenchaca Thank you so much, so do I!

I think both [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are usable!! They’re both zippy and sweet, and sound very classic.
Of your choices, I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] best, but I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] may be more right for you due to the [name_f]Nora[/name_f] connection!!
-
I think [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] is sweet, it’s personally a little too “celebrity modern” for me, but I think that if [name_f]India[/name_f] and [name_u]Holland[/name_u] can work as names, why not [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite [name_u]Irish[/name_u] girl names are [name_f]Saorla[/name_f] (SEER-luh, I think she’s a great alternative to Saoirse!!), [name_u]Flannery[/name_u], [name_f]Cadhla[/name_f], [name_u]Darby[/name_u], [name_f]Ferelith[/name_f], [name_f]Liadan[/name_f], and Orla(ith) !!
-
Personally, I do not love [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]. She feels very dated and overused, and I personally know quite a few. I much prefer [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] also, but if you can’t use it, how about [name_f]Lois[/name_f] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] instead?
-
I quite like Eloise!! I think she’s very sweet, and is very classy with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (which I also like a lot). The only thing is, I think it may have a giant popularity jump soon, but if it doesn’t bother you, great!!
-
I love [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] for a little girl!! I personally have a cousin named [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], and she wears it so well! I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] too, but I honestly think [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is better and more unexpected!! Maybe you’d like [name_u]Billie[/name_u] or [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] for a girl too
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped!!

If you like the name [name_u]Ireland[/name_u], have you considered the name [name_u]Erin[/name_u]? It’s a lot less celebrity and would be less awkward if she visited [name_u]Ireland[/name_u], but still has the same meaning. I think [name_u]Erin[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] could be very sweet if you don’t mind alliteration!

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] are both very usable and adorable! [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is another option if you want a name meaning light.
I know one [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] and one [name_f]Irelynn[/name_f]. I find the name awkward to say, but I don’t think either of them have had major issues with their name. Other [name_u]Irish[/name_u] names I would suggest are [name_f]Aoife[/name_f], [name_f]Meabh[/name_f] (Maeve), [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] (Neve), and [name_f]Oonagh[/name_f] (Oona). I think [name_f]Oona[/name_f] is the best option if you want to go with an anglicized version.
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is nice, as is [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! I agree that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] would make a beautiful set.
I know a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] that goes exclusively by [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]! I like it better as a nickname. You could also use [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Francine[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is less dated. I also prefer [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as just a nickname. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is the only long form I know of. Using a longer version of both of these names will give her more options.

@winterlyricalfox Thank you so much! I I really like Lucy’s classic but spunky nature. It’s a name that works well for all ages and I think it’s lasted so long for a reason.
I think [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] is sweet, but the more I think about it, the less I like it. I feel like it’s not for me. Out of your suggestions, I think I like [name_u]Flannery[/name_u] the most!
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is on my list as an honor name, I’d most likely use [name_u]Josie[/name_u]! Thank you!
I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! I just didn’t know if it was too connected to the [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] books and movies to use with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] because of the Hepburn connection. (That is not the reason I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] so much, but it doesn’t hurt at all to have her as a namesake!)
Aww! I love that you have a cousin [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] who goes by [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]! I know a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] who goes by her full name, at least in a professional capacity. [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is a very pretty name too. I probably like both names more because she is so nice!
Thank you again!

@moonage.kc Thank you so much! [name_u]Erin[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a beautiful name and I love alliteration with -e names so much! I just have a hard time seeing [name_u]Erin[/name_u] on a baby or a young child because all the ones I know are middle-aged adults. It’s definitely something to think about though!
Thank you again!
@Greyblue Thank you so much! I really like [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] together for some reason! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is fun and classic at the same time. And [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] feels special because I love both names so much!
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] would be so sweet, thank you! I am also still open to [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] to carry on my grandma’s middle name. I used to be so set on [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. But I love that [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a double honor name!
I’m honestly not loving [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] anymore either. The more I think about it, the more I dislike it. And the only city, state, or country name that I can think think I like well enough to actually use as a name is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. I won’t be using that one! Of your suggestions, my favorite is [name_f]Fiadh[/name_f]! It’s sweet, spunky, and strong!
I think my friend would would think it was weird if I named my child [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], and I’d feel off about it. I don’t think I’ll use it. I’d ask what her thoughts were if [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] were a top favorite name, but it definitely isn’t.
I’m loving [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] right now! And the friendly but sassy nature of [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] makes me happy and draws me closer to it!
Thank you again!

@tallemaja Thank you so much! I have always thought [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] was a special name, and that it was sweet with a short, zippy middle name! But I’ve been hesitant about it in the past. I think I’m finished with the hesitation now!
I am definitely going to avoid both [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] and [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] as first names. [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] works for others, but I really don’t think it’s for me! It is cute though, and I think I can appreciate it for them but not use it myself.
I think [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] are SO cute and classy together!
I think [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is more unexpected, and I love that about it!
Thank you again!

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is cute. I prefer [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and I like both [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (Eliza [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is also cute). [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] sounds better to me than [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f], nn [name_f]Bridey[/name_f], and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] fit in with your [name_u]Irish[/name_u] theme.

@may.rose Thank you so much! I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is a very pretty name, but it sounds a little too harsh for me when I personally say it. I agree that [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] is a little awkward to say as a name of a person. Of your suggestions, my favorites are [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] and [name_f]Oona[/name_f]! I love traditional [name_u]Irish[/name_u] spellings of names, but I don’t want my future daughter to have to correct people all the time.
I do love Francesa, but is it weird to use it when I’m not Italian or a native Spanish speaker?
Thank you again!

@miloowen Thank you so much! I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and forgot about it, so thank you for the reminder! [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] does sound better than [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I really like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! I’ve thought about using [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (instead of Mae) or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] too!
Thank you again!
To me, they all have warmth and cosiness but also style and strength!
I actually think Eloise and Frankie would be adorable as sisters!

@Greyblue They do! And [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] are ! I never thought of pairing them together!
Thank you so much!

@sammaegre Thank you so much! I never thought I would, but I am liking [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] more too! After thinking about [name_u]Ireland[/name_u] more, I have decided that it isn’t for me. The place name that I think is most usable is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. I don’t know that I like it more than any of my other names, so I don’t think I’ll be using it. Thank you, I am really loving [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] together!
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is very cute too!
Thank you again!

@winterlyricalfox I somehow overlooked your suggestions of [name_u]Billie[/name_u] and [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]! I love both, especially [name_u]Stevie[/name_u].
Thank you again!
