[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! One of my favorite names of all time is [name_f]Selkie[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], which I’m back and forth on whether or not it should strictly stay a GP. Because I love it so much, I have also considered [name_f]Selka[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] or [name_f]Selket[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], which I also love. But are any of these usable? I worry about outlandishness as well as possible offensiveness. Would love to hear your thoughts.
I think [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] is usable [name_f][/name_f]- it has a name-like sound, and feels similar to using other mythological names.

[name_f]Selka[/name_f] feels like an intriguing, multi-cultural choice with many origins [name_f][/name_f]- it feels like a great way to get to get to the sound of [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] if you feel uncomfortable with it being a mythological creature maybe?

I updated the NB description to reflect more of what it could mean [name_f][/name_f]- not sure it’s up yet but not sure entirely why it said it means berry or inlet…
[name_f]Selkie[/name_f] is very usable. I’ve just looked up the meaning and it clearly has mythological connections! [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Selka[/name_f] is also lovely, and I am leaning more towards it as a name, perhaps with the nn [name_f]Selkie[/name_f]?
selka and selket are definitely usable !! i think selka with the nn selkie would be gorgeous [name_f][/name_f]- unusual but clearly a name. you get to call her selkie, but because it’s clearly a sound-related nickname, there are none of the potential word-association worries that might hold you back from using selkie as the full name.
I’d say both [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] & [name_f]Selka[/name_f] are pretty usable! They have the familiar sounds of Sylvie/Sylvia, which definitely helps.
