Are Emma and Anna too similar?

My new book I’m working on has a main character [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], who befriends a ghost named [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I’m trying to name my more background characters, and I was planning on naming one of the supporting characters [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. But now I’m think about it, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] could sound too similar. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think they’ll get mixed up? My other option was to rename [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f], do you think that would fix it?

I think [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] work wonderfully together.

They’re a bit too close for me, but I don’t think people would get them mixed up. If you don’t like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] you could use [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_u]Emery[/name_u] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Em[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmie[/name_f]. There’s also the similar but more distinctive [name_f]Ebba[/name_f]/[name_f]Etta[/name_f]

I think they’re fine, unless they’re going to constantly be having a conversation/in the same conversation.

They’re fine, especially in a book they are very different in writing, they just sound a little similar. It is easy to distinguish them on paper.
