FI and I are putting together a new list of names to go along with our boy name, [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]. Is [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] too close? We would mostly call [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] “[name_m]Jack[/name_m]” and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] “[name_m]Harrison[/name_m]” (although FI has mentioned [name_m]Hank[/name_m]). When I suggested [name_m]Jack[/name_m] on its own, FI felt it “needed to be longer” but neither of us like [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]/[name_m]John[/name_m].
Other names we have on our list:
[name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u], and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] nn [name_u]Max[/name_u]. We are having the same question with [name_u]Max[/name_u]. We love [name_u]Max[/name_u], but don’t know if we love [name_u]Max[/name_u] on it’s own. The only problem with [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] is that the beginning of our last name is [name_u]Mel[/name_u]-, so we don’t know if [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] [name_u]Mel[/name_u]- is similar. (I tell my FI at least 100 times a day that his last name is the bane of my existence, haha.)
I personally wouldn’t use [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], they are very similar in terms of look and style. Are you planning on more than two children? If so you might want to consider the impact of having a [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and a [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], will you have to use [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] or [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] for a third boy?
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] actually do work well together but losing the end of either name throws the balance off. I don’t think [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] work. It’s either both full names or nothing I feel. [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] work perfectly too, would you consider going for this option instead?
I think to save the hassle of setting a trend or people asking if you want matching names and all that I would look to find something else. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Connor[/name_m] work well together, as do [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] & [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
We are probably only going to have two children, but I do see what you mean about “setting a trend.” I don’t know, if we had a third boy, I’d probably just be inclined to name him something we like ([name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]) and not carry on the -son trend.
I also agree that I don’t really like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] together or [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] together. In all honesty, we’d probably end up with a [name_m]Hank[/name_m] and a [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Harry[/name_m], but I’m not sure if I’m in love with it. I really like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Connor[/name_m] together and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] together.
I don’t think that two names with a pattern mean the third does too. Usually after three you should stick with it lol. I think if there were more, you could easily break up the trend and name it anything you want.
What I am seeing is alot of Presidential names. Specifically the two you want, if that is nothing that bothers you I say go for it.
